IF I HAVE THE MONEY WHEN MY DAUGHTER GETS OLD ENOUGH I WOULDNT HESITATE TO PUT HER IN A PRIVATE SCHOOL. I'D THINK SHE'D BE MORE LIKELY TO GET A GOOD EDUCATION IN A PRIVATE SCHOOL

Public school. It gives kids a better idea of the real world. More diverse (racially and economically) with real world situations (budget cuts, etc) as oppossed to a school with loads of money.

I don't think that private schools are any better of an education than public schools. Its not the schools, its the parents and the drive of a child that determines the type of education they get. This is in most cases of course, there are situations where this does not apply as in very poor areas where children in public schools have way outdated text books and no computers

I went to private school when my parents were struggling and broke as fuck and we basically lived in the hood. It was the cheapest private school in the Bay Area, like 100.00 a month or some shit like that. Anyways, I got a damn better education. Academically, when I made the leap from private to public, I was knocked back about 2 years. I was like damn I studied this shit way the fuck back in the day.

I have seen alot of kids go from private to public schools and they go crazy cause they never had to handle the situation. Drugs, sex, crime, etc. Sometimes it's like little fish in a big pond and the kids can't handle it.

id send them to public schools...like lmd1510 said, its part of the real world...plus i think public schools are better at making your kid more confident of himself...think about it...public schools have drugs, gangs, bullys, if you raise your kid right you should have no problem with them taking care of themselves in these situations...as far as education goes...i think the education of a good public school is just as a privates schools...you just have to shop around.

but id be more concerned with my child adapting to everyday social situations that a public school brings...after all, not knowing the equation to the sq root of the polynomial of 50% isnt going to affect them much in their adult life.

not only that but relationships built in a private school setting give you an added advantage later on in life. relationships lead to opportunities. its how this world works. just like a degree from harvard is taking you a lot farther than a degree from idaho state junior college.

private school all the way...you get enough of the "real world" living in the hood. i went to a catholic school in oakland for four year...when i graduated from there and went to king estates and skyline high...it felt like i've dont this shit before. public school is a definate set back.
privte school trains you for the only real world that relevent...the working world. public school will give you a passing grade just for showing up half the time. how does that prepare you for life?

public school - the education they obtain therein does not concern me, ill teach my son what he really needs to know, and i dont say this in an idiotic anti-system way, i just believe that 90% of parents now-a-days dont RAISE children, they send them to school and when they come home dont spend alot of time with their kids, i want to stress that grades dont make the man, knowledge and personal strength do. . .

Private schools are definitely better. Sure kids can get a better grasp on real life in a Public School but that type of information isnt really relevent, also you can get all this shit from pop culture. Besides like phil said its all about contacts. It's not who you know, its who knows you.

IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS YOU DONT LEARN SHIT. SCHOOLS NOW DONT EVEN HAVE MONEY! SHIT MY BROTHER BARLEY GRADUATED LAST YEAR AND HE SAID THE ONLY REASON HE GRADUATED IS CAUSE HE WOULD SHOW UP TO CLASS. TEACHERS NOW-A-DAYS DONT GIVE A FUCK IF THEY'RE STUDENTS LEARN ANYTHING. THEIR JUST ABOUT THE FETTI.

I think we should have a poll or something so we can see not only what you prefer, but what type of school you attended, be it one or the other or both.

I went to private school most of my education. I am happy with the results (about to graduate from one of the nations top universities and have a job waiting for me), so I would most likely put my kids through private school. But I do think if I had gone to public school I would have done fine and also been happy with the results and would send my kids to public school.

Now that I have seen what a private school education can do for someone, I would not want to take away the opportunity for my children.
