Hype Hop is coming...you've been hearing that for weeks. Now we can finally give you a date. Mark your calendars because July 24th, 2007 is the date.
We’ve been slowly leaking information the past few months, so most of you already know all the great features but we’ll break them down again. First and foremost you know you’ll be hearing from our label mates Ruthless on the album. M.C. Rentz, Phatty McGee, and Professor Fresh all make appearances. Next up we’ve got Potluck, from Suburban Noize Records. We met these guys at the Bomb House at last years Gathering, and we can’t wait for you to hear the track. We’ve also got a feature from Eyedea of Rhymesayers Entertainment fame. It’s a little bit of a switch in style, but we definitely think you’re going to like it. We also can’t forget our homie Liquid Assassin. We’ve been playing shows with him for years, and we finally got around to doing a track together. Last but certainly not least you’ll be hearing from The District. While he may have stepped away from the mic, he still took time to lend his voice to Hype Hop.
The features aren’t the only thing to be excited about with Hype Hop. We’ve also expanded our horizons production wise. The album features production from Underrated of Potluck on three tracks, production from Lazerbeak of Doomtree and Rhymesayers fame on two tracks, and two tracks by our friend Fritz The Cat who you may know from Psychopathic Records releases. We’ve also got great production from the Dynamic Duo of Caesar and KG from Out of Bounds, as well as Minnesota Music Award winner EMS. Loonatix Productions own Professor Fresh also contributes production to the album.
One thing that really makes Hype Hop stand alone from past PLC releases is production from Mereness and Dubz themselves. This album marks their first foray into production on three tracks. The album features a wealth of production, giving it a very diverse sound.
Enough about the album itself…You probably want to know when and where you can get it first. We’ll be having our CD release party July 20th at the Dinkytowner Café located in Minneapolis. We’ve got a great lineup for the release show including:

We’ll have more details about the show in the coming weeks, but this will be the first time you’ll be able to pick up Hype Hop. If that lineup and being able to pick up the album early aren’t good enough, you’ll be able to get in for only $3 if you’re 18 and older. Underage cats have no fear, we’ll have an all ages show announced in the near future to make sure you’re able to get in on the Hype Hop fun as well.
