so I am watching the news last night and I saw all the highlights or maybe i should say sad stories about the Tornado that took 10 lives in Greensburg, KS.

:(

crazy sad shit....

but as i was watching I saw how country everything around it was, and it made me think of the 2-3 times been to the East Coast (D.C. and NYC). Everytime I met someone and told them where i was from, they asked me "So you got a barn and some cows?"

And I would of course tell them NO. I always thought they were just talking stupid becuase of Wizard of OZ or some shit, and then I saw this shit happen with all the media attention it got.....And I just thought..."DAMN, no wonder everyone else thinks Kansas is all country, thats how the news makes it look"

I guess just like how they make Cali look either "upper class or ghetto"....
or the South look "broke"...
or the East Coast look "flashy"...

do you all get what im saying?

how do you think the media portrays your city?

Are you from Kansas City? Wasn't it Tech N9ne who also said

"They think there ain't nothing but farms where we're from..."

For my city the media blows up the crime more then it actually is. Everybody in Holland has prejudgement about you if you say you come from Rotterdam especially from the south but all that shit is highly exaggerated (sp)

i remember a while back when these paisas from the next block got into sum arguement over a card game and then the guns came out.3 of them ended up dead the next morning and later that evening they showed em on the news and the reporter said it was 3 gang-related slayings..i was like wtf?.these were sum older(40-50yr.) paisas with no gang ties at all...no wonder every1 thinks L.A.'s nothing but gangs...they report every crime in this city as gangrelated.
