Titans cornerback Pacman Jones said Friday night he plans to appeal his season-long NFL suspension and believes he’s been made the “poster boy’’ by the league.

Jones made his comments to an ESPN reporter while attending Friday Night Fights in Tunica, Miss.

“For the most part I think it was a little bit harsh. I expected the suspension, but for a whole year, for a guy that hasn’t been charged with nothing, I really didn’t agree with it,’’ Jones said. “But for the most part I am taking it like a man. I am going to appeal it and we’ll see what the future brings.’’

Jones, who has had at least 10 run-ins with police since the Titans drafted him in 2005, can apply for reinstatement after 10 games if he follows specific conditions set by the league.

“Clearly, you know, for a guy that hasn’t been charged,’’ Jones said. “Clearly, I am made to be the poster boy.’’

He said he’s received support from his teammates, naming defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch.

“For the most part, my teammates call me every day,’’ Jones said. “Kyle … is like a real close friend of mine and he is really going through this hard that I am going to be suspended for 10 games to a year. …

“What I am going to do is I am going to work out every day and make sure I am in top-tip shape, but come Week 11 I plan on being back on the field.’’

Jones also said he’s misunderstood.

“First of all I am a loving and caring person … Don’t nobody knows what I’ve been through,’’ Jones said. “A person that has a relationship with God is not a person that has to go to church every day… For the most part, just sit down and talk to me. Anybody that has been around me or talked to me can tell you how I am or how I handle myself and I really am a good person.’’
