I'm sending an invite to EVERYONE. It doesn't matter if you're "underground" and are anti-commercial. It doesn't matter if you only know what Jammin's been playing for the past week. I hope EVERYONE can come together to show appreciation for these creators of hip-hop.
It's going down at Hot Shot's in Vancouver.
Regardless of what "sub-culture" of hip-hop you listen to, you cannot deny Sugarhill Gang as inventors of this phenomenon that's touched the globe. MaddOne will be up from LA to join me, we're playing NOTHING but old-school ALL NIGHT. This isn't some candy coated candy shop. This isn't any lean back throw your hood up party. This is true classic in it's rawest form. Hip-hop in fun and exciting ways as it was when it was developed.
Melle Mel & The Furious Five will be live at Hot Shot's this Friday, July 29th @ Hot Shot's. All DJ's who are available are welcome. What I'd like seen is ALL DJ's and tastemakers from the Pacific Northwest put aside any differences, at least for one night, and come and show some appreciation.
The doors will open at 9.
Cover is only $10.00 all night. Melle Mel & Furious Five ARE performing live, guaranteed. Small price to pay to see a piece of hip-hop history LIVE in ACTION.
