So my chemistry teacher a year ago told our class that in the long run nuclear energy actually produces less chemical and radioactive waste than most other methods of energy. Most power plants use coal burning and the by products are just allowed to go wherever and rain seeps into these causing the same effects of nuclear fallout. I just wanted to see what you guys thought of this and if anyone had information supporting this. Nuclear power is a lot mre efficient than other methods of power so why isnt this the main source of power?

because enviornmentalists are ill-informed and have political backing.. i work at a nuke facility and learned the above also.. but over here.. (like many other places) they will regulate the fawk outta these places. its also because even tho nuclear energy is much safer daily, an accident will be much harder to deal with then the conventional methods.. and that scares many people.. u must remember, the US is a paranoid country..
