Theres 3 things to consider... Hardware, software, and configuration. I've used both platforms and I can tell you right now...a PC thats set up properly for pro-audio application can easily put a mac to shame. The key is in knowing how to design the system in terms of the right hardware. Certain arrangements just don't work well while others are damn near unstoppable.
To elaborate on the Emagic thing... The PC developement of Logic Audio is being discontinued because within just a couple days of its most recent official release, both the software was cracked and a 100% functional XS Key emulator was released. Emagic has dumped a lot of time & money into developing their copy-protection system and PC users seem to piss all over with little trouble. Rudolf @ Emagic admitted that PC users make up 30% of their total sales but that theres no point in fighting a battle they can't win, especially when with every release its more of a slap in the face than a celebration.
In my opinion that was a really bad decision on their part. It's obvious that PC's are here to stay and that they are finally at a point where they are serious contenders for professional audio. That's a new market and theres a lot of money to be made. I would rather get my hustle on than cross my arms, put on a frown and pout about software piracy.
