Crunchy Blac Interview:

Concrete: How did you link up with these two cats, Juicy J and DJ Paul?

Crunchy Blac: Well, I was dancing at first and they were DJing in the clubs that had it going on back then. It used to be Studio G and now it’s the Plush.

Concrete: Were you break dancing?

Crunchy Blac: Naw, ot was the gangsta walk. That’s Memphis stuff. Nothing but the Gangsta walk, no break dancing. They were Djing parties and stuff. Every party that they would DJ at, I was there and I was doing my little dance. Then me and Paul and his brother, Lord Infamous, hooked up and I started going to all of Paul’s parties with him. From there on, when they signed the big bill they told me, “you’ve got to start 100% rapping,” but they signed me as a rapper instead of a dancer. Since then, it’s been going down for me. A lot of folks have got problems. I ain’t got no problems. I love the Hypnotize Minds clique.

Concrete: When you say a lot of folks have problems, what do you mean?

Crunchy Blac: Their minds ain’t right. I don’t mean problems with the just clique or anything like that. I’m just saying that their minds ain’t right. They’ll be lost in the sauce and their minds ain’t even right. You’ve got to be smart about every move that you make. There are good move and bad moves. You want to make good moves. They say you should think about a lot of stuff when you are saying it. You know what I’m saying. If you have a problem and you’re thinking about, “what am I going to say to this nigga when I see him,” it’s better than when you just come ballin’ in. Know what I’m saying? It’s gravy though. I love Hypnotize minds. it’s with me until I’m dead. I’ve got the shit in my arm. on my arm it says, “thou shall not hate... words for a nigga to live by.” Know what I’m talking ‘bout. That’s it.

Concrete: So Juicy and Paul basically motivated you to rap. did you rap before you met them?

Crunchy Blac: Well, I rapped. I had been did some shit with some other rappers from Memphis but there wasn’t no money involved. So I said I wasn’t gong to rap anymore until I could get some money. So I ran into them, but I didn’t run into them rapping. I ran into them dancing and people used to tell them that I could rap.

Concrete: As far a the movies go, are you getting into acting more too.

Crunchy Blac: Yeah, I played in Choice and Choices II. In the first one I didn’t play a good part and in the second one I died so quick but I guess you’ve gotta die to be in the third one.

Concrete: Do you want to work on doing some bigger parts?

Crunchy Blac: Right now I’m just going to let the music shit blast for me as a solo artist and then I’m going to move onto something bigger. but right now everything is rolling out of Hypnotize Minds Camp. Movies, clothe shoes, whatever. We’re going to try and do it all. First we’re going to sell independent all of the way.

Concrete: Are there plans for a solo release from you soon?

Crunchy Blac: Well, I’ve got From Me To You. We had said it was going to drop after the new Three-6-Mafia album or Chrome’s album. I might be out then. I ain’t gonna just lie to you. A soon as it gets ready to come out ya’ll already know that the bosses are gonna tell you ahead of time. So, just keep your head up and keep your ears open wide.

Concrete: Is there anything else that you would like to say to our readers?

Crunchy Blac: Thou shall not hat. Words for a nigga to live by. Simple and plain
