My old computer crashed and now I need to recover all the data from at least my C drive to a disk. Does anyone have any leads on companies or individuals that do this.

i dunno if there are still any CompUSAs around but they did it for me last year for like 80 bucks and give you the option of buying a new hard drive with the files on them or onto DVDs. if they cant recover they give you your money back....Best Buy probably does it but charges more....your best bet is finding someone whos smart with computers to do it..

^ im pretty sure they can. also I think savs problem is that he cant get into his comp so all those progams people are recommending are useless.....easiest thing to do would be to open the comp take out the drive, connect it to another comp as a slave drive and then burn all the files to a disc...then again you gotta have some knowledge to do all that,.....

right on.

yeah what i did was just get another hd, make that the master, the one that i needed to recover the slave. then i downloaded the program and ran it and selected the slave drive. took about 8 hours because it was a 300gb hardrive.

Hit up craigslist for data recovery if your hard drive has a physical issue then these people can do it. I talked to a guy in Berkeley to get one fixed and he said bring it in and he can tell you how much it will cost then if he can't get the files you don't have to pay. I think he quoted me at around $100.
