I don't give a shit about islam or anyones religion quite honestly. If my religion called for me to wear a cowboy hat, and I knew my job said I could not wear any head wear to work, I have the sense to know not to A. work there, or B. not to wear a fuckin hat.

He called it a doo rag lol! Unfortunately ur opinion does not cover federal or state law. It's been dealt with all the way to the supreme court and is covered in the first amendment. It's termed disparate impact. Under tyranny of the majority she will lose in the "social court" but will win under federal and state law.

I don't know about that, I'm sure Disney has faced this challenge before. And the employees are labeled as costume performers. Should they allow the guy that plays Mickey Mouse to wear one of those linens over the costume as well?

I recant just researched her case and Disneyland might be protected. They treat ALL of their employees like actors. Even a hostess at a restaurant. This one might have to go through the court system all the way to the supreme court. There are precedents established for both arguments.

Man this chick though, she just became a citizen. Be happy you are here and you have a job. I watched another video on CNN wear she hadn't worn the pillow case for the two previous years she worked there, now all of the sudden she needs to wear it?

First of all Likwid, she is not deciding to wear a veil for vanity purposes. She is Muslim, and HAS been Muslim, but by not wearing a scarf before this, she has in her own religion's terms, been sinning while knowing she could just not sin by wearing a scarf.

You cannot hire someone knowing they are of a certain faith that has certain religious rulings on clothing and tell her to "work in the back" after she decides to be a more pious person to her religion. They would not allow her to have her normal job, while she was still ok with "wearing the costume" over her hijabi outfit.

She is suing to make a point for many cases to come, not to screw over Disney. Plus Disney will not hurt financially from this, maybe they could integrate some real multicultural techniques like they feature in their "It's a Small World" ride?

Plus I thought Jasmine and Aladdin are based off a middle eastern theme, isn't our country and our world filled with people of all different ethnicities and cultures? How come its only an issue when a woman wants to show some modesty?

Btw, would you complain when a woman sues after being discriminated for being pregnant? I knew someone who was sent to work "in the back" of a bank during her pregnancy when she was showing and her boss called her a fat cow in front of everyone before she went on maternity leave, i guess she should have kept her mouth shut too?

A few points you should consider:

Religion is a choice, made up and cannot be proved to be real. Pregnancy IS real, ask any woman who has given birth.

Why should people have the right to practice their faith, while the rest are stripped of the right not to recognize said faith? If I say my faith says I MUST wear a Jason mask, should I be allowed to wear a Jason mask while working in places like the pentagon or McDonalds? As a business owner why should I have to allow someone to wear piercings all over their face or have unnatural colored hair?

She was employed by Disney for two years prior to this controversy...She knew that she was dubbed a costume character which required her to dress in character. Why all of the sudden?

sorry but if it's a stage show that requires a certain costume you can't be wearing a scarf if that character does not wear one, hopefully common sense will prevail and this bitch gets sent back to the desert or whatever 3rd world shithole she comes from.

The Muslim community took a big loss in PA. The courts ruled that muslim women cannot wear a hijab to work because it posed a security threat. I believe they are trying to make the law clearly define the 1st amendment.

Disney's position is this: We are a theatrical organization. Our employess, ALL employees that interact with the public are actors.

That's where it gets tricky legally. If an actor is cast to play, let's say, Sandy in Greece. She then converts to Islam and becomes strict in the faith. She cannot wear a Hijab on stage. the law would not protect her. A man cannot sue because he was not chosen to play a female part for a role he wanted.

God forbid they sell pork in that restaurant. They are going to eat her ass alive. I am interested in seeing how this plays out.
