I record with Cubase SX and i want to know if anyone knows of a place that will Mix and Master my music for me. I know most of the major mastering houses can mix and master Pro Tools projects but i have yet to find one that has Cubase SX and is capable of mixing and mastering such a project for me. I have been learning the art of mixing a project down for almost 2 years on and off and i know alot of the basics but i would feel more comfortable leaving it up to a pro.

Why don't you just export each track in your project to a separate .wav file? That way, it can be imported into ProTools or whatever digital system you want. A good idea would be to sit in with the engineer who is mixing your tracks and learn from him. Ask questions and soak game.

Yeah im hoping to find a enginer/mastering house fairly close so i can sit in and watch. I never thought of exporting each track to a wav file. I thought there might be some synch problems with that. Should i export each track at 24 bit and let them dither it down or export each track at 16bit?

export at 24 so the mixing engineer can do 24 bit processing and then all the mixes he has should be given to the mastering engineer and he'll dither it down to 16. it will sound alot better, especially the reverb tails if plug-in's were used for that.

For the wav export you will forst need a midi connect if the sounds are from an external source.... If your alreadysequencing in Sonar, cubase or whatever you can export each track independent... Remember the original tempo though...

You could also export the tracks as an OMF file. Check with the location you'd be taking the files to, and they should be able to let you know exactly which OMF format to use, and how to prepare the files. Your software manual might be able to tell you how.

OMF files are inport/output compatible with Sonar, Cubase SX, Logic, and Pro Tools (with the Digitranslator 2.0 software).
