ive noticed ppl on here always talking about how the bay is underrated and it has so many hot mcs that arent getting the love they deserve
but I think some of this has to do with the rappers you guys look to put the bay on the map
you only talk about guys like yukmouth, messy marv, keak, san quinn, 40 etc.
but what about artists like
blackalicious
zion i
jahi and the life
del (and others in hiero)
i see these guys putting the bay on the map before any of the guys named higher above. theyve had videos on national tv (atleast blackalicious and del) i also like the fact that they have tight and more complex spits that involve shit other than money and cars and talking about themselves and how great they are
just wondering why these bay cats are never mentioned

40 and too short are the only ones consistently associated with the bay.. not too many people know about the underground MCs u named and for that simple fact.. they probably cant be considered putting the bay on the MAP.. while they are reppin it daym good tho u feel me?

yuk, mess, quinn.. 90% of people outside the bay dont know who they are.. even niggaz LA aint know yukmouth before he got into it wit game.. they kno the luniz and i got 5 on it but aint kno that yuk was in it.. a lotta folks in NYC dont kno who the fuck 40 is either.. and if they do most haven't heard a song.. but everybody know who short is

bay just not marketed very many places so it will be a while before we put ON THE MAP

i hope i can be one of them quality artists who rep it well but come with that heat.. holla tho

i do agree with carl as far as more underground hip hop cats not gettin enough love for reppin the bay.but at the same time those cats arent really puttin the bay on the map or making any more progress for the bay as any of these other more known ppl are....sure zion, del, pep love, opio, the grouch, mystic journeymen and cats like this have been puttin it down for the bay for years but most ppl in the bay dont know who they are so they must not be puttin the bay on the map too much...

as much as i would like to think these artists will blow up and put the bay on the map i dont think its a reality, they dont have the sound that the masses are looking for, therefore ppl look artists that have those capabilities like yuk,40 and so on

exactly. thats the point im making. im down here in san diego and im pretty sure yuk, mess, quinn, keak, etc couldnt have a sell out show here.
i would think 40 and short could have shows here, though i couldnt say for sure since i cant recall them doing it any time in the recent past.

but i do know from actually witnessing it, that del, zion i, and blackalicious have no problem selling out venues and lighting up the stages here. if they could do that here im sure they could do it through out all of cali among other places. that shows a lot of people do know who they are

and though he hasnt come as hard in his albulms as he used to, the other guy putting it down for the bay down here is nickatina. he still does his thing and puts on a show like no other. he gets more popular down here by each appearance he makes.

and mac dre is definately making a buzz down here too. a lot of people know wuts up, but a lot also just know him as the "thizzle dance" and "stupid remix" guy since those are the two tracks they play at Tijuana hiphop clubs. nevertheless his name is spreading like a wild fire

thats what i dont get. that ppl on here actually from the bay dont know who these guys are. these guys have even had videos on mtv and bet. dels got one being played right now with handsome boy modeling club called the worlds gone mad. if yuk had a video like del does right now you guys would be going bannanas, and both these guys are from oakland

M.C's like Zion i and Del transcend reppin the bay...the problem now is that the bay HAD all the attention, now the attention is spread out to entire regions, there is no bay now, its the west coast, and everything else is secondary.

As far as cats from the bay with the ability to get some sort of main stream attention and that puttin' the bay on the map, I think there is a stigma that closes peoples minds about rap music and in general the every other word is bitch this n*gga that kill em all you know how they talk mentality is holdin the bay bacc. Too Short had something to do with that too. So execs that market to white amerikkka are really lookin' for a different vibe from the bay and aren't seeing that. I think "Sir-Moj" from the South Bay has a different and very marketable vibe and is gettin' play overseas, in canada, and everywhere i have contacts. They loved that mixtape Slapz and Throwbaccz and if he keep his azz in the studio folks gonna be in trubble. He got a new spit, new vibe and aint waring out the mob spit. Ho, bitch killa shit that keeps the bay on the bacc burner in execs minds. Not hatin' on other cats cuzz I grew up on this mob shit and wouldn't have the love i have for this music without that. But business wise, marketing wise, white amerikkka is past the bangin' era and we need new shit to hit em with..."If" you lookin' to get outta the stigma that "IS" on the bay.

actualy Carl Winslow,

Del,Zion I,& Blackalicious (never heard of Jahi) probaly have a more wide spread fan base then Keak,Yuk,Mess,& Quinn.but Keak and Mess and them got a different sound that atracts the cats on this board.......

but Del is one of my favorite rappers.........

yeah thats what im saying. there music is more widespread and therefore theyre doing a good part in putting the bay on the map, which to me is just making fans in different areas of the state, nation, world, etc. the fact that they have gotten national airplay and have such good fan bases in all different parts in america, thats a good way to get ppl into what else the bay has to offer. del and nickatina were the two that did that for me, before i had any clue what the bay underground had to offer and make a bay fan out of a southern cali native

i understand that their music is not what most ppl on here like, but all im saying is that there actually are rappers from the bay doing their thing well outside the bay, it just doesnt sound like a lot of you recognize it

and for those of you whove never heard of the guys im talking about try downloading some of these songs if youre interested

del - phoney phranchise
blackalicious - alphabet aerobics
gift of gab - ride of your life
zion i - breathin slow

Thats absolutely false Yuk is known around the country. Im talkin from experience too trust me cats from ATL to The Bay and even some in the eastcoast know yuk. His fanbase is waay bigger than you cats are givin him credit for. You just dont sell the records and dvd's he's sold without being known around the country.

Yeah but yuks fanbase did grow alot since the game beef tho. But you right about his fanbase tho alot of people in houston know and bump yuk. And almost everybody that listen to gangstarap in LA (the streets i mean) know yuk. There is even Cats in Ny that know and bump yuk. Dont get it confused yuks fanbase is not just the BAY. They all ova the country but mainly in the bay, southern cali, midwest and the southwest. Not too fans many on the eastcoast but he do fuck with alot of NY rappers. Im not sayin yuk is know everywhere ofcourse not but he is pretty well known across the country. And thats just the states he got hella fans in europe.

YA DIDNT YUK OUTSELL E-40 IN NY, I HEARD SOMETHING ABOUT THAT WHEN I THINK GODZILLA AND BREAKIN NEWS WAS BEING COMPARED. HIS MIXTAPE SOLD OVER 100,000 UNITS THATS HELLA GOOD FOR A RAPPER THAT DONT GET PLAYED ON THE RADIO OR HAVE A VIDEO OR COMMERCIALS FOR IT. YUK I THINK IS REALLY ABOUT TO BLOW CUZ HIS BUZZ VERY HIGH RIGHT NOW AND WAIT TILL HE GETS SOMETHING ON BET OR MTV THAT GETS PLAYED ON SOMETHING OTHER THEN BET UNCUT.

The interview came out real cool the other day with CBS. Tryin to jam me up with all types of questions but I kept flippin it. Even though they will probably will cut it, I said "THE BAY IS BACK!" in there somewhere just to be a dick. Haha.
