Lenny Dykstra certainly seems to be up a creek, as the former baseball star was handcuffed in court yesterday and locked up.
His bail was set at $500,000 after the District Attorney hit him with a stunning 25 criminal charges.
Dykstra, 48, was taken into custody in Los Angeles County Superior Court at the end of his bail hearing. He didn’t enter a plea and is scheduled to return to court on Friday for a bail review.
The D.A. charged Dykstra with 23 felony counts and 2 misdemeanors, including auto theft, identity theft, and possession of cocaine and Ecstacy.
The prosecutor said Dykstra’s $500,000 bail amount represents the amount of property he’s been accused of stealing.
Dykstra, 48, his accountant Robert Hymers, and friend Christopher Gavanis were charged with attempting to lease high-end vehicles from several different car dealerships with false information and tried to apply for credit through a fake business.
The three allegedly drove off the lot with cars from one company after providing false information and provided information at two dealerships from a man who did not authorize for his name to be used. They initially claimed the man was a co-signer, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
When Dykstra was arrested on April 14, police allegedly found cocaine and Ecstasy, along with the human growth hormone Somatropin, in his possession.
