haha, same shit happened to me when i used to work at the grocery store. i'd hear this piano melody start playin, and i'd be like "wtf, are they for real about to play 2pac at the grocery store?" but it was the original song that the beat for "the way it is" was taken from. can't remember the name of the original right now, but i have it somewhere.
