Study Hinduism my friend. This is a religion that not only allows you to embrace your current religion, (if you are a christian, muslim, buddhist, etc), but open your mind to the rest of the world too. The only drawback is that Hinduism does not have a centralized book of reference as with Christianity and the Bible. The writings for Hinduism are MANY, and are very decentralized. The writings and interpretations of Shankaracharya may be a good place to start, depending on how interested you are in the subject. The Bhagavad Gita is also another suggested starting point.

The Robert Redford movie "Legend of Bagger Vance" was based on the Bhagavad Gita. The B. Gita is a story of Arjun, who is on his way to war. He laments at having to kill. He questions a God name Krishna, and the book, (which in Sanskrit, is a song, as "Gita" means devotional song), the book is a basic dialogue between Krishna and Arjun over the concept of Dharma, which roughly translates to one's 'duty' in life. Very complicated to try and explain to you, but if you do get a chance to get acquainted with the main ideas of Hinduism, (apart from the caste system, which was and is institutionalized race and classism), I feel that you may look at life in a much more positive manner.

Also, I found a lot of guidance from the book of the Tao Te Ching by Stephen Mitchell. This is a translation of writings by a man by the name of Lao-Tzu, a "contemporary of Confucius". Of course, reading the book on your own may not be as beneficial if not discussed with others reading this (like a classroom setting), but is definitely what helped shape my outlook on the world immensely. Hope that helps.

learning and functioning any connection between something is spiritual. learning the love of pizza making with another can be spiritual. the bible is used to guide and to give your spirit to God in everyway there is. everything is in the bible. this is my belief.

Thanks alot for the advice. I'll have to read some of these books. I like to read all kinds of books and listen and learn from all kinds of teachers. I don't like to be narrowminded and only listen to christian teachers. I think if you take something from every book and teacher it helps you get much more spiritual.

That's true. Jesus was the Great Teacher. And he is qouted by very smart men and teachers of our time. But one thing is for sure the Gospel of Thomas was taken out of the bible. Because it has some of Jesus's greatest teachings in it.

They took it out because without reading that book and Jesus qoutes it's very hard to become spiritual. That book has helped me alot in my spirituality.

Not every teacher or book are good. To and atheist the bible can be a bad book. To a hindu the Qu'ran can be a bad book. To a muslim a torah can be a bad "book."

the other question i had was reference to how many times The coming of the Lord was brought it up in the the "Old Will". i believe it is 366 times.

not too long ago i wanted to figure out what doctrines just had to do with the bible and alot of it was just stated how the bible is a harmonic tool. versus sing together and stuff and then just word usage started to interest me as well.

emphasis added. I understand you have a passion for things such as this, but you should do a bit more research before you make various claims such as it was "taken out of the bible", "has some of Jesus's greatest teachings in it" and "They took it out because without reading that book and Jesus qoutes it's very hard to become spiritual."

What kind of research should I do? I am always trying to learn more from different people. I'm never close minded to learning new things.

I really like some of the qoutes in that gospel. And I think they should be in the bible. Plus lots of stuff was taken out and changed in the bible for lots of reasons. There is always stuff out there they don't want people to know or see.

i've heard that the gospel's of luke matt john and mark were not written by them but passed on and written by late 1st and early 2nd century christians. the way a story is passed on is crazy sometimes because it has its own material (i think). the story will do things for you it won't do for others when told. like when things are going on in your life and the story connects with what is going on with you internal. i like to think about how the 120 that went "sent by Jesus" with out nothing and was to preach to gospel. what was on they minds and in they hearts.

To a Hindu the Qu'ran can be a bad book? That's not a true generalization IMHO.

It's not a generalization. It's an oversimplification. Generalizing would imply that I think most or the majority of Hindus think so. I didn't. But surely some of the Hindu's killed by Islamic extremist or those that killed Islamic extremist must have thought that way.

Generalization or oversimplification, it still doesn't ring true for me, but perception is reality. And even the Hindus that were killed could not blame the book for the actions of men. Among Muslims there are varying interpretations of the Qu'ran; not all are violent Jihadists.

I dont necessarily think the bible is a bad book...

I just take it for what it is...a book with stories ...that can teach basic morals...
No different that a 5 year old avg book that teaches a kid to not steal or lie to your parents...

The bible is just that...but for adults.
