1. Why don't you start off by telling us a bit about your background and how you got into rap?
Well it all started wit my uncle Mike and my older cuzzin Junior(CG & Stezzo’s older brother) bein DJs and in break dancin crews, my other older cuzzin Big Devious was getting into the rappin and battlin other breakdancin crews at that time, and I was sittin bacc watchin all of them and I would go witem and just soak it all up and that was like in 85 when I was only 4 years old.That’s basically how it all started.
2. While you where growing up what artists did you listen to the most?
The first two tapes I ever had was Beastie Boys “license to ill” and the Fat Boys “Crushin” or sumthin like that, from then I started getting into people like: Ice T,NWA,Too Short,BDP,Big Daddy Kane,Rodney O and Joe Cooley,EPMD,Kwame and so many others, then the Bay Area rap scene got real big and it was over.
3. What inspires you to write lyrics?
Life is the number one inspiration from the hard times to the fun times,also when I hear good music I get in the mood to lace sumthin real nice
4. What keeps you motivated?
Life once again, Theres so much goin on from the family to the streets I see and experience a whole lot of it as I get older and drives me to stay motivated. Plus my love for music keeps me goin.
5. What in life are you most and least proud of?
Im proud of bein a survivor in these streets,bein able to go through that street life and be here with a skill to speak on it in a way people across the world can feel me,One thing Im not proud of is that even though Im here not in jail or dead or just not bein active in a positve way.I know I let moms down by not graduatin from High School,Im her only child and she never got that experience of seein her son walk across that stage…But Im on another stage, Doin Big Thangs, so its gonna work out..
6. What are your ambitions in music, what goals do you wish to accomplish?
Im tryna do it all,collab wit other artist from all types of music that’s real,music is all about havin fun to me,so I just wanna get out there and do whatever I can.
7. Your production knocks, what got you into making your own beats and what equipment do you use?
I get srtaight to business when Im in the studio all my songs are created real quicc on the spot so I can still be in that mental stage the whole time Im creatin that song and I cant be sittin around waitin on other cats to make a beat all the time I just got to get it done myself, I just got the Triton at home but I get a lot of sounds from other places twistem up and get it craccin.
8. Whats the connection between silas & devious?
Oh Boy, A big shout out to my nigga Devious….that’s my brother man,We been together all our lives way b4 a Devious or Smigg solo we were a group and we will be recordin an album soon,hes currenty workin on a new album,Im doin my first and its finna be on..
9. How did sic related individuals come about? When is the Silas aka Smigg Dirtee cd going to be in stores? Who is featured?
C.Gigolo and Steezo are family and we all been doin this shit forever and we were doin so much music together we started a group bacc in 97 doin shows and entering contests tryna get on and now we here..as for my album we shootin for JULY 9th 2002 so get ready…man I got Luni Coleone of course (wussup my nigga) Devious,my nigga I-Rocc,T-Nutty,B-Legit,Sic Related,Mad Dog and just a few more...
