I LIKE THE UNDERGROUND MORE CAUSE IT SEEMS MORE UNCENSORED THAN COMMERCIAL RAP (SAFE MUSIC).....
COMMERCIAL IS MORE HOLLYWOOD WITH THE GLITZ AND GLAMOUR AND TRYING TO SET TRENDS AND SHIT... WHO KNOWS MAYBE THINGS WILL CHANGE FOR THE BETTER, WHAT YAW THINK??

cause commercial rap sucks, plain and simple...the majority of ppl that listen to it are chicks and younger cats and you arent going to get street cred from those ppl....all the more mature ppl that are really from the streets knock the underground shit cause they can relate to it,you cant relate to some cat talkin about having $200,000 worth of jewelry on and ridin in a ferrari on the way to his mansion...fuck all that fake shit.....im not saying there isnt a place for commercial rap and songs of that nature, cause i know alot of ppl like that that, but if you are talking street cred thats not what commercial rap is about in my opinion

THERES PLENTY OF REAL NIGGAZ THAT MADE IT UP TO COMMERCIAL STATUS. I'LL NAME A FEW DMX, SCARFACE, JADAKISS, TWISTA, E-40, TOO SHORT..... THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE: THEY ARENT RECORD LABEL BITCHES. THEY'RE EITHER ON THEY'RE OWN LABEL OR ON A LABEL THAT LETS THEM DO THEM. ANY UNDERGROUND ARTIST WOULD LOVE TO SELL A PLATINUM RECORD, AND IF YOU THINK IM WRONG YOU GOT THE GAME FUCKED UP. TUPAC HAD THE FORMULA DOWN PERFECT, HE WOULD PUT A FEW SONGS ON THE CD THAT COULD BE PLAYED ON THE RADIO, AND THE REST WOULD BE THUGGED OUT. EVERYBODY IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW IS TRYING TO COPY THAT FORMULA. THE RADIO IS THE BEST PROMOTION THERE IS. IF YOUR NATIONWIDE ON THE RADIO YOUR RECORD WILL SELL NATIONWIDE. JUST MY TWO CENTS

oh boy! the answer to this is logical... 3 or 4 big companies run 90% of radio... they set the tone for music... how does radio make money ? endorsements by comercial... so logicly play " comercial rap" ... walt disney owns abc .. abc owns the majority of radio stations.. they want money by comercials so they present them selves in a comercial fasion.. : we'll play music to market you & in return it will benefit us... underground or independint do what they want & are not altered therfore they are " real" or just flat out do what they wanna; in return get credability..., cuz they have freedom,. they dont rely on someone to tell them what to make.they make shit that shows artistic freedom & originality... how to stop this..... its impossible to stop unless we had a way to get to every one ( same problem with gass prices the 19th is a boycott on gas day which would work if everyone followed!!!! ). so the current strategy on the west coast is do what we do untill they mold themslves to us.

i tend to prefer alotta underground artists because alotta the shit that they say, i can relate to. and that doesn't just go for Bay artists, any that i hear thatz bringin it.

but there's some comercial artists who i can feel and respect, because they make their music so that it will appeal to the rich & poor. thatz the comercial i feel, where niggaz can make a album that more people can relate to. i mean look at mainstream artists llike Lil Flip. he brings shit that niggaz on the blocks can relate to, but it still has a mainstream appeal to it.

they get street cred because they dont rap like mainstream rappers. all u hear on the radio is how much ice u got, in the club music, or i love u baby type of shit. with underground they speak on real shit like how it is on the streets. they speak on that grimey shit. there is only a hand full of mainstream rappers that i feel.

yeah I feel that some comercial rap is just image, industry, puppet strings catchy beats, one big smash hit, and a bunch of filler. On the other hand there are also a bunch of very talented big tymers out there that have this thing down to a T. I feel underground gets more props because the people on the streets can feel a connection with the local artists, the artists are more tangable, something they can see and follow, opposing the "star" image. local artists also tend to write more lyrics that the streets can identify to in theyre personal lives, and do not have such a star persona.
