EAST HARTFORD, Conn. --An East Hartford man was arrested after police found him with a plush Easter bunny that had been stuffed with marijuana.
Ian Lawrence, 25, was pulled over by police on Wednesday after allegedly running a red light. Police found 19 grams of marijuana in his car, most of it inside the stuffed rabbit, police said.
Lawrence was charged with possession of marijuana, operating a drug factory, possession with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school and motor vehicle charges.
A telephone listing could not be found for Lawrence, an East Hartford resident.
He had trouble finding his insurance documents and asked to look for them in the back seat, police said.
When Lawrence stepped out of the car, police said the officer smelled marijuana and saw some marijuana on the floor between the driver's seat and the door. The officer searched the car and found two baggies of marijuana in the glove box and the bunny. Inside the bunny, which is holding an Easter basket, they found 16 small plastic bags of pot, police said.
The officer found hundreds of empty baggies and a digital scale, police said.
