Okay I listened a second time and it's aiight, but not much of it is growing on me. Yeah I did Messy a dis-service, his flow is kinda more interesting and harder on this one, but I still think its kind of boring with the slower production and too many weak choruses.
To me it's definately not his cleanest album by a long way, there too many corny tracks and too much shit where he trying to switch up the style and it just loses the whole feel y'all normally get rolling with a Messy album from start to finish.
The Lil Flip tune is cool, and Tycoonin bumps nicely, and the Guce cut is like some classic Messy vibe, but then the 40 & Yuk tune is clean as hell but it just isn't a Messy sounding cut, its like some weak ass nineties R&B/rap off the radio, Messy, 40 and Yuk are wasted.
In the same way, the Suga Free track slaps hard but again it just ain't no Messy shit, you'd find that kind of beat up on a Suga Free album, Mess sounds better over his older shit. The only new style which worked was that 'Get On My Hype' that was out already.
In the meantime 'Dont You Say That' is the corniest concept on miami bass production, why Mess on miami bass? Momma is a pretty weak dedication, and the rest of the album is just boring choruses and over-produced unoriginal soft-ass beats.
This ain't hate because Messy is cool, I swoop all his albums but this one of the worst after all the expectation, this time the flow was there, he could spit hard, but the beats he got on were weak or tired, and some of the other shit he tried was corny as hell.
Overall I can't say I'm really feeling this even after two or three listens and more, its too much skipping. I never skipped tracks in Disobayish, Turf Politics or Still Explosive. Here I'm doing it way too many times, disappointing after so much good shit last year.
