WHATS THE BLEED FOR MAGAZINE AD'S OR FLYERS? ANYONE HAVE ANY TEMPLATES FOR IT? THANKS IN ADVANCE!
all magazines are different, they usually have their specs online...on flyers and posters i put a quarter inch. You really dont need a tempelte...just use your guides...for example

I put a quarter inch and then kept everything that is important like type in the half of inch

I design Xplosive's entire layout, but yeah some mags are different. Most of the ads I get in to place in the layout are pretty standard. I'd rather have more bleed to work with than none at all. Sometimes the ads submitted are way too small and I have to add a border or have them re-submit them if theres time.

CMYK and 300 DPI

ok thanks for the info....raskals5 i see that u have it in cmyk, do u save it as cmyk or as rgb?
yeah anything that is going to a printer must be cmyk...that is the colors of ink they use to make millions of colors. I would suggest starting in cmyk...there is for sure a color difference...I was doing a digi pack and did this really nice design and when I was done I realized it was rgb and when i converted it to cmyk all the colors look muted.

Another trick for printing is when you use black make it a built black

C = 60
Y = 40
M = 40
K = 100

Another trick to get a black when your design is final...convert to rgb and then back to cmyk and that should help also

Thats one of the hardest things about working for an independent magazine is when artists submit tiny ass photos and ads for print. If you ever see a layout I've done where theres a shitload of tiny pics instead of one big one, that is the reason.

You should have a bleed of at least 1/8" or more on all sides plus a 1/4" margin for a safe area for text. For perfect-bounded magazines, like Stash, Source, XXL, its good to put about 1/4" to 1/2" in the fold.

You dont really need a template, just get the trim size and add a 1/4" margin, and make 1/8" tick marks for bleed and margin.
