How do I set up a database on my server?

aight I'm looking to learn how to set up a database to run a phpbb forum on a webiste. also one were people could fill out form to say leave there e-mail address to sign up for a newsletter. this is one end that I don't under stand I've tried reading up on it and it confuses me.

the phpbb has a lot of support at their website and many others, do some searches.

you will need a hosting server that supports php, normally apache will work. then you have to setup your database through the control panel, or have your ISP do this for you, they may charge extra for the MYSQL feature. its a lot of bullshit for the first time, but a good experience.

ya the 1st time it doesnt really make sense...but once you do it...it takes 5 mins to set up a phpbb board...

depending on your server you they may already have a phpbb board that you can just activate in your control panel...

cool thanks for the info well I really don't have to worry this at the time (someone else is handling it on site I'm currently working on) but I want to know for future reference. I already downloaded the phpbb but I can't install cause there is no database.

you have to set up the database in your hosting control panel...php was so much easier for me to do than a cgi board...
