Theyre not. i worked for Century theatres, and theyre open 365 days a year, and you're required to work 2 out of the 3 "major holidays" during the winter season. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years.....and u dont get time and a half or anything.

most jobs do though.

It's completely up to the company. Usually full-time employee receive a paid holiday from such days throughout the year. However part-time employees generally get the shorter end of the stick in non-union positions.

The only California State Law requirement regarding increased pay is overtime.

If you work more than 40 hours in one designated work week (usually starts Sun and ends Sat), you get time & a half pay for the hours over 40.

If you work a 7th day straight in one designated work week, you get time & a half pay for all hours worked on that 7th day.

If you work more than 12 hours in a single work day, you get double time pay for all hours worked after 12.

If you work more than 8 hours on a 7th day of working straight, you get double pay for all hours worked after 8 hours.

* I do payroll for my 25+ employees every 2 weeks.

Wal-mart is fucked....average salary is 13,261 bucks and the poverty line in this country is like 18,220. they also dont give u any health benefits, and they are the largest private employer and top-grossing retailer in the WORLD.

how about if some of the work is considered training. i put in like 16 hours in one day the other day, but 8 of it was "training" so they said i get no OT. I worked a total of 54 hours that week but didnt get no overtime pay

DubbC415,i dont agree with the Wal-Mart shit.does McDonalds offer cheap health coverage? how many jobs do? i've had MANY jobs and NONE of'em had affordable coverage.i consider Wal-Mart a bullshit job, along with every other retail and fast food type joint.but thats probaly one of the best bullshit jobs around.they pay more then minimal wage, not a whole lot,but more.they give you holiday pay.you get bonuses yearly.they are the top grossing company, thats why they get picked on the most.do the number 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 top grossers (in wal-marts catergory)get half the shit Wal-Mart does? do the number 2,3,4,and 5 top grossers offer more than Wal-Mart does? i've worked there bout 5 or 6 years ago.i've worked many jobs after that and thats the only job where i can say they apreciate their employees.i've worked at Target too, they dont got affordable insurance,no one does unless your in a Fortune 500 company..............

damn so my job fucked me.i worked 7 days straight my second week there.what should i do? is it too late to get my money?
keep track of your hours (yes they pay someone else to do that for you, but you can only trust #1) and bring it up to your supervisor, or hr manager. if you didnt keep track till now, youre screwed. if you have kept track, and they deny you, go to that persons boss, keep going higher n higher, and worse comes to worse, go to the Better Business Bueruo. or go to OSHA and report all the unsfae working condidtions (whatever they may be) that wont get you your money, but it is fun to get the boss into trouble

I think some companies have something like that but I am not sure.

You really may want to check with your direct supervisor on that one.

is that for part time too?
Yes, but if you are working that much you really aren't part-time anymore.

If you are salaried full-time, you are most likely exempt from overtime pay. However you are allowed to bank paid holidays if you are racking up overtime. You need to make your supervisor aware that you are working overtime so they keep track of the hours that you're accruing.
