Hip-Hop Chess Federation To Be Featured on Good Morning America
Wu-Tang Clan's RZA and Traxamillion Highlighted in GMA Weekend's Profile on Hip-Hop & Chess

October 16th 2008 SAN JOSE, CA- The Hip-Hop Chess Federation (HHCF) is proud to announce that the organization will be featured on the Oct. 19th edition of Good Morning America Weekend. The story highlights the mission of the Hip-Hop Chess Federation to fuse music, chess and martial arts to promote unity, strategy and non-violence to American youth. This high powered segment will feature HHCF founder and CEO Adisa Banjoko, HHCF Chess Kings Invitational Champion RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan and rap producer Traxamillion. The HHCF has been picking up tremendous momentum over the last two years, paving a new way to engage young minds from underserved communities. Past HHCF events have featured RZA, GZA, Rugged Monk, DJ QBert, Immortal Technique, Rakaa Iriscience from Dilated Peoples, Casual from Hieroglyphics, Sunspot Jones of Living Legends, Def Poetry Jam's Amir Sulaiman, MMA star Ralek Gracie, San Quinn, Balance, Paris and T-KASH among others.

"The Hip-Hop Chess Federation appreciates that the producers of GMA saw the importance of our efforts" said Adisa Banjoko. "By giving the youth direct access to the biggest names in Hip-Hop, chess and MMA we keep them focused on the things that really matter in life. Youth violence is at an American crisis coast to coast. Our goal is to reintroduce non-violent philosophies through balancing artistic, mental and physical activities. This approach enables young people to find proactive life strategies from wherever they are economically, racially or socially. The chessboard does not care where you are from or how rich you are. It rewards you for giving the best of yourself at all times."

The HHCF is currently launching a "HHCF Life Strategies" pilot program for high schools and middle schools in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Next month they plan to have programs in Chicago, Atlanta and New York by 2010."HHCF Life Strategies" program is based on the concepts of the best selling book The Art of Learning by Josh Waitzkin. A documentary 64 Squares about the relationship between Hip-Hop and chess has already begun shooting. The upcoming Hip-Hop Chess Federation 2nd Chess Kings Invitational is scheduled for February 28th 2009. They'll be hosting a celebrity chess tournament, B-boy and DJ battles and several grappling exhibitions.
