graphics program help?

is there anyone who knows of a program i can dl to make album artwork nothin cheesey somethin good i have never messed with this kinda stuff b4 and im not lookin to actually sell my art work(unless for some freak reason its tight)i just wanna have a lil somethin extra to do when im bored

keep in mind i dont know jack shit about this kinda stuff!
