GETTING SIGNED AND NEVER COMING OUT???

This actually happens more than artist that get signed and actually come out. Out of the whole year I was at warner bros records, out of the damn near 20 signed rap artist, only 40, mike jones, and scrappy dropped albums. Everyone else with the exception of jay rocc has been dropped from the label. Getting signed doesn't mean a damn thing if the label doesn't get behind you. In most cases its virtually like getting a check (a small one at that) just to say you're singed and lock you in just in case you do blow. You'll just be another dust collector unless you get out there and create your own buzz and give the label a reason to get behind you.
Nowadays labels are signin lots of artist to bs contracts and then waitin to see which one gains the most momentum with minimal to no backing, and then getting behind that artist.
Getting signed nowadays is like a crap shoot. Be very sharp when its decision time cuz in some cases getting signed can do more harm than good and sometimes even destroy your career.

THE WHOLE THING IS, SOME OF THESE ARTISTS ARE SO STARVIN' THAT THEY THINK SHIT HAPPENS OVER NIGHT. YOU'RE NOT GOIN' PLATINUM JUST BEcAUSE YOU'RE SIGNED TO SOMEONE WHO HAS GONE PLATINUM OR TO A LABEL THAT HAS PLATINUM ARTIST SIGNED. MOST OF THESE ARTISTS THAT GET SIGNED HAVE BEEN WORKIN' HARD FOR OVER 10 YEARS. MOST OF THEM HAVENT , BUT THEY HAVE A HYPE OR SOME KIND OF GIMMIcK, DANCE, ETc. WHEN YOU SIGN TO A LABEL (MAJOR) YOU cOULD LOSE YOU cREATIVE cONTROL, OR THEY MIGHT SUcKER YOU INTO SIGNING, AND STOP YOUR STREET BUZZ THAT YOU HAD BEFORE YOU SIGNED. THINK BEFORE YOU SIGN AND BEFORE YOU THINK YOURE GETTIN' THAT cASH MONEY DEAL, "YOU'VE GOTTA PUT IN SOME WORK!!"
