November 28, 2007
San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday by the National Football League for his performance in the 49ers 37-31 victory over the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday.

Gore rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns in the team’s overtime victory. It marked Gore’s 11th NFL 100-yard rushing day. He also set career-highs with 11 receptions for 98 yards receiving. Gore’s previous best was six receptions in a game three times, most recently vs. Arizona (12-24-06). Gore’s 11 receptions were one shy of the 49ers all-time record for running backs in a game, and were the most by a 49ers running back since 1996 when Terry Kirby had 11 catches against the Washington Redskins (11-24-96).

It is the first time this season that Gore has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Week and the third time in his career that he has won the award. He was honored following his 134-yard rushing performance in the 49ers 34-20 win over Oakland (10-8-06) and after his franchise record 212 rushing yard performance against Seattle (11-19-06).

It is also the first time this season that a 49ers player was recognized as a player of the week. LB Patrick Willis was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for the month of October.
