When you're dating/with someone does age really matter?

Me personally I could careless how old the person is but I do feel that 5-10 years age difference can be a big gap.

If the other person is mature enough to be on your level I feel anything can work out. But if someone is older than you does that mean they're immature or does it just mean you're mature for them?

Why is it that guys like to go after younger women?

first of all, maturity comes with experience, which is part of age, youve been on the earth longer and many things youve learned, they might not have yet.

i find that alot of people i talk to go through the same exact problems i went through around their age.

i have a homegirl whos 7 years younger and shes a certified dime, but i wouldnt ever touch her because she reminds me of a little sister.

i cant be feelin' like the fuckin oracle and shit. givin someone advice all the damn time because they havent gone through things yet. fuck that shit. i want someone whos gone through equal or close to what i have, and around the same age range so were headed into the level of life at the same time.

I agree people go through experiences quicker than others...

you could go through so much shit but never learn anything off of it. That's why I see so many older people going dumb when they need to get smart.

im an only child and i seem, IMO..far more mature than those who had siblings bieng that i basically raised myself while my mom was at work.

im basing my opinion on my life, the people ive ran into and the experiences ive had

but just because im more mature than people my age dosent mean im going to date someone thats 50

it just means ill look for someone equal my age that has gone through almost as much

im just not into young chicks, thats just me

im like 2 years away from 30.
older women paid me no mind for a long time..now its changing, older women smile alot more than the younger ones, they just look shy.

Depends on situations you've had with people of different ages, if any.

But for most people their mentalities are based on a lot of different things

"if a girl is older she can teach you more"
or
"if a girl is younger she is easier"

I know it can go deeper because some guys do feel insecure dating an older girl because they do feel age dominates and vice versa when girls go for older men.

i dont think the psychological reasons for someone liking a specific preference of age is so important, its just the fact that thats what they like

some people prefer green eyes over brown eyes
yeah maybe they like green eyes cuz they mom had green eyes and that would open up a whole nother basket but unless we can sit down and psychoanalyze every single person

im going to say its just a preference

and preferences are free to change
so if i decide tomorrow that my new thing is fucking 18 year olds so be it

but relationship wise, i pretty much know what i want, i think most people should also know

and insecurity is a personal problem and not a preference, they might be insecure about hundreds of other things besides older women

My g/f is 4 years older than me and I could've never seen myself being with someone older. In a way I surprised myself but our relationship never dwells upon age as a factor, especially during drama we keep things consistent

I wanna see other people's feedback, I think we set the bar kind of high as far as responses go

see, people go through things at certain ages. let me try my best to point a few of them out.

16-18 = first job, first car (probably not in your name), prom, "im a adult now i can do what i want" attitude, preparing for college.

19-22 = college, promiscuity, intense studying (or failing and dropping out), alcohol becomes a new phenominon, around 22 youll start realizing that youre no longer a teenage in transition and youre an adult.

23-25 = most people will start getting their shit together around this age. you either dropped out of college and started looking for a job or you finished, might even move back into your parents house during the transition of bieng sufficient

26-27 = you start getting scared about bieng old, things like medical insurance, 401k's, bills, taking an interest in owning property or making an investment, kids might begin to cross your mind, health becomes a bigger issue than it was when you were younger.



now im not saying that EVERYONE goes through this exact gphase and some of you might have learned a few things earlier, but for the most part...thats a common cycle in age

and thats why ill pick someone whos around my age, so we can go through the same things together in the future.

also, id like to point out that older or younger women will have a different outlook based on a generation gap

that dosent mean you cant get along with someone or understand them

but my co-workers do not hold the same values i do as important and thats based on things they went through as kids in the 60s and 70s.
