i was just thinking that back in the day i remember there being like alot of compilations. bay rider series and such. i notice there hasnt really been any comps coming out, mostly just mixtape shit which is whack. as i listen too this Hustlaz anthem song that c4 & knocademus put out im thinkin i think the bay needs a good compliation. just a full length album, fresh beats wit some of todays bay area artists spittin. - the albums are more radio focused & i think the comps were just like dudes doin it, sayin fuck it... just havin fun with it... i know big d has a comp coming out. but damn i wanna hear some comps

I thought compilations evolved into mixtapes. It would be nice to see great production over a cast of respected artists come together and put out a nice unity compilation album like the days of old....

i agree, we need more compilations once again.. i'm tired of mixtapes. 17 Reasons, 18 With A Bullet, West Coast Bad Boyz, Lockdown Comp, Isolated In The Game were some of the best the Bay had

oh hell no - at first it was good - boss ballin, romp 1, cell block 1. Then it got plain stupid where everyone and their mom had a comp. Shit, I blame compilations for starting that whole recycling tracks fad.

Compilations turned into a way to sell the same songs to people over & over. Mixtapes turned into a way for mediocre rappers to use the hottest beats out at the moment and not pay for it.

Fuck em' both. And while we're at it, guest appearance verses shouldn't outnumber yours on your own damn album. It's ridiculous to see all these albums coming out with 10+ guest rappers. Albums today have no theme, no overall story, no nothing but a bunch of slapped together songs and crossed fingers the teenagers will fall for it.

Compilations were made to give a bunch of rappers to shine on one disc. If it wern't for comps alot of rappers from the bay wouldn't have ever blown up

IMO comps are cool when they have exclusive never before heard tracks on em. Let the rapper put that shit on his album after you drop the comp, thats how it should be not the other way around. I stopped buying comps when almost every song on there was some shit i heard before and the other songs on them were just bullshit the people that put the comp out did

Yo i feel u SLY but check this out. Comps stopped in the BAY cause they were not selling anymore and thats because 90% of them at the end of the era were not quality

If we were to do quality comps again they will GO

I rember buying comps and skipping threw tracks like heard it,heard it,heard that one 2,verse was on another track,or what the worst was when one song has like 3 different titles on 3 different albums.

I always thought the Bay was compilation heaven and NY/East Coast was mixtape central. The difference was, in compilation you didn't have DJ Whoever yelling during the tracks with high echo and reverb. East Coast mixtapes were't even a real "mix" most of the time, just a compilation with the DJ yelling and using explosion sounds to go from track to track. You actually heard the song on comps. The same problem about recycling tracks on comps are the same problems with mixtapes. Mixtapes are going to fade away because of competition. Only the best will survive, ie. the Demolition Men (even though they ain't from the bay, they know what they're doing), the J-Spins (Needs more mixtapes), the Rah2ks (even though his CDs hasn't been mastered all that well). Shoot, the latest comp that I did like was the Draped Up and Chipped Out comp from Mess. I'll take that comp over any mixtape out right now.

All of Apt.3/DNA's comps have been solid. Check out Theme Music to Drug Dealinz and Killinz for the definition of a true compilation.
I agree, you guys do it right
