what do some of niggas up there think about northern cali rap? when i was over there on the east coast they were pretty much close minded to anyone except niggas like ice cube, snoop, kurupt, daz, etc... they gave E-40 play but a majority of them thought he was corny, but they were atleast openminded to listen to him, I guess cause he was well known. I tried to put them on to shit like yuk, bo, lynch, dre...you know the usual hittas, but they wasnt feelin them at all. i just wanted to know the type of people you come across up there when you try to put them up on northern cali rap, i figured since you were in the buisness you would come across more people that were actually open minded to giving the artist a listen and actually knew good music.. cause those niggas up there are weird. oh yeah, everybody up there thinks if you from cali you from la for some reason, from personal experience northern cali gets no recognition from those cats...speak on it pimp

yo contagious locc, to answer your question, around 10 years ago when i would mention e-40, cats out here would wanna cut me with a box cutter. they were always feelin too short though. now cats i fuck with all know e-40. there was a rumor floatin around nyc for many years how e-40 and his crew ran up on biggie in cali and thats when cats started thinkin maybe e-40 was for real, now he gets mad props from lots of cats out here. as far as the rest of the bay, i just heard they played super hyphy on nyc biggest hip hop station hot 97. also cats like busta rhymes, fat joe, mobb deep, fabolous, all of dipset, and a bunch of others are lovin the bay. RUN from RUN/DMC told me the bay was one of the dopest places on earth. my mission is to get as many bay area artists names ringin here in nyc as possible. i already sent def jam packs from PSD, SLEEP DANK, ASSASSIN, NASTY NATE, RHYTHMX, AP-9 and several others. i've also sent packages of PSD, ASSASSIN, AP-9 and COGNITO to the source magazine unsigned hype column.

i also manage old school legend rob base (ten million sold) and he just did some shows in sac and san jo and i had cognito open for him and they loved cognito. they want him to perform with them again on sept 3rd when they play sac again. i just talked to rob and ez rock a few minutes ago and they really feelin the bay. so we aint there yet but nyc is opening up their minds, we're gettin real close. nyc loves shock g, they love mike mosley (fat joe is one of mosleys biggest fans) and they really fuckin love assassin. he's a bigger celeb here than he is in the bay. thanks for the question, holla, dj pimp

I feel what you saying for real. some cats I run accross up here are very open minded to artists from the bay and La, but some are just extremely closed minded.

I have yet to meet an artist that doesnt love the bay and what we represent because on the real there is no place on earth quite like the bay.

I really think the rappers in the bay though need to take a page from the south and really not give a fuck what new york thinks. Cats up here dont buy records anyway its so much downloading and bootlegging out here that it cuts deeeeep into the sales of even rappers from ny.
