Anybody here listen to my boy DizzeeRascal from East London??? He's the biggest thing coming out of London/Europe right now. He's been making major noise around the world with his CD "Boy In Da Corner". He won the Mercury Prize over there in London which is the biggest award that could be acheived in Europe. He beat out ColdPlay and Radiohead. He's just about in every magazine out right now(RollingStone,Spin,Source,XXL,Billboard etc...) He's vicious on production as well as being a lyrical tyrant. He's comes in town today and we'll be out and about networkin..I just hooked him up with E-40 & B-Legit and were going to do some international passport pimpin type shit for the near future. Lemme get some feedback my BART kin. Peace & Pro$$$perity y'all, RHYTHMX / HIGHENAZ / $ickWid'it Records

Sup Rhythm, yep Dizzee is big out here, dude sold like 250,000 copies in this country alone which is unheard of for a UK hip hop act, and especially as he ain't trying to be pop or anything, his flow is still hard.

There definately some 40 influence in the way he chats his way through his spits and changes up the voice and speed all the time, in fact I think someone said he gave props to 40's style as a factor over there on TV?

It may be a lickle bit different out there in Cali as Dizzee does cut a fine line between rap and a more uptempo club music called garage, so his voice and delivery is a little hyped for cats used to rollin to more laid back shit.

But dude is definately blessed with skills and originality, he got that energy and variation in his voice like 40, shit a 40 water and Dizzee cut would be hyped as hell, like that chipmunks poppin ecstasy lol.....

Would be interesting to see a collabo like that put more people up on 40 over here.... I been trying to do that for too long! Sadly though more people over here swooped Dizzee's shit on that award alone, they all ain't hip hop.

But props to Dizzee for doing big things out there, kid is only nineteen and he got stabbed real bad last year out doin a show at a holiday resort, he's come along way and seems to be going a lot further too.....

And oh yeah, just found these comments on 40 from dude in a US interview:

" In London, our hip-hop, like I said, you got the fake, Premier sounding, watered down beats, and like, all rappers in England try to sound like they’re from the Bronx, but you know they’re not. Know what I’m saying? But our hip-hop was garage. It’s really stated to come up in the past three years seriously. Me personally, I wasn’t into the East Coast or nothing like that. I was into a lot of West Coast first like Snoop, 2Pac, E-40. I got a big love for the south as well. I listened to a lot of crunk before they were like the new juggernaut or mainstream magnet. But I always liked Three Six Mafia, Cash Money, No Limit, but they were only hot for a minute.

Is there any US artist that you’d like to, or are gonna work with?

I think E-40’s is in the run. That would be wicked; he’s the one I really respect. That’s a connoisseur of rap, you need to know your shit to be up on some E-40.

That’s ill that you say that because being from the West Coast I know what he’s done, and I’ve seen how he gets no love, so for you to recognize that from thousands of miles away, that’s respect.

Yeah man, I know my shit. He’s a rapper’s rapper I think. He’s responsible for the all the slang — pop ya collar, all that shit man. His whole thing — metaphors, scrilla scratch and all that. Of course."

he is cool, definate garage sound dude has flows but some of the beats are simple and childlike, must be the ps2 he samples.
it would be tight to see 40 hook up with him though.

if 40 is looking for some international music pimpin he should do a song with french rapper mc solaar. that dude is on point anbd the beats are ill. check out his cd "cinquieme as"

manne, i talked about this dude last year. he is not rap/hiphop, he is his own shit....youc an call it grime garage but he's his own shit but i have a bad feeling he'll do a so solid crew and turn completely rap. watch out for wiley's album next month. his album was decent but nothing great. wiley needs to do more beats for him or others of the roll deep entourage. anyone who wants to hear some mp3s of so called 8-bar/grime garage can holler at me on AIM, i got plenty for y'all to sample.

Yeah y'all. Dizzee is young but very smart. He is real cool and him and 40 talked yesterday via Cali to Atlanta. We spent tha day vibing to Yay Area shit, smokin out and seeing tha sites around Tha Yay(GoldenGateGBridge,Alcatraz,etc....) We'll do some shit real soon. He's got a show tonight at The Mezzanine in S.F. Other than that, thanks for all tha replys within. Tha kid does spit alot of game in his lyrics and he does remind me of a young 40 cause you need to rewind his songs to really catch tha game being flown about. Go snatch up that album and vibe to some young new talent comin out from EastLondon. I can't knock tha kids hustle.............Major Respect.....Peace & Pro$$$perity to all, RHYTHMX HIGHENAZ $ickWid'It Records
