Sup ya'll. So I was given a canon powershot a520 as a gift. It's nothing great but it's the only camera i've ever had that has the ability to manually set different settings. Now the thing is, I was playing around with it a few minutes ago messing with the nightshot and so forth. Anyhow, for anyone that's experienced with shooting at night outside ,( still subjects not people ) what kind of settings should I try using as far as shutter speed and exposure ? Any quick tips?

You need a tripod. Then you can leave the shutter open with out blur. Other than that 1/60 is the way to go. You can use a slower shutter speed, but you have to be Perfectly still. Lean up against a wall, exhale, and shoot. If you are lucky you can get some good shots like that at night.
