FAIRFIELD -- What appeared to be a late night traffic stop has Fairfield police investigating a homicide early Wednesday and searching for a suspect on the run.
Authorities have identified two men arrested in connection with the Tuesday night killing of a 24-year old Fairfield man as 23-year-old Aaron Meyers of Vallejo and 23-year-old Andre Brown of Antioch.
The pair was arrested after police speaking with a pedestrian on Cormorant Drive noticed a Buick speeding by at approximately 50 mph and gave chase at around 9:30 p.m.
According to police, the vehicle sped off to the 1100 block of Verdin Court, stopping only after crushing a small tree.
Police report the three suspects then ran from the vehicle, one carrying a handgun.
Two suspects managed to avoid arrest but officers stopped and arrested Meyers. As they were taking him into custody they learned shots had been fired near 1940 Grande Circle, said Lt. Tony Shipp.
According to Shipp, when police arrived at Grande Circle they found one man dead, and surmised that the three men had fled the scene of the crime.
Shipp said officers set up a perimeter and after an hour of searching nearby yards assisted by a trained dog, police were able to locate Brown hiding in the bushes at 1165 Heron Court.
According to police Brown refused to surrender and was subsequently bitten by the police dog before being apprehended.
Brown and Meyers were booked into the Solano County Jail for one count of murder each.
Police were still searching for one man who managed to evade officers. The man is thought to be in his 20s, weighing around 200 pounds, wearing a white shirt and his hair in dread locks.
Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Fairfield Police Department at (707) 428-7300.
