Clark County Superior Court Judge Diane Woolard ruled Tuesday that Jeremiah D. Johnson, 19, one of three defendants in the gang-realated beating of man left stranded near Moulton Falls, is mentally competent enough to stand trial.
Joshua Smith was attacked last November and thrown off a bridge near the town of Yacolt. He was able to crawl to safety the next day and notify authorities of the attack.
Background: Juggalos gang fight
Johnson received a court-ordered evaluation of his mental condition. He had told authorities that he had drug abuse and mental health problems.
The other two defendants in the case are Michael J. Harvey, and Shawn W. Rogers. Anderson and Rogers are members of gang called the Juggalos, loosely inspired by the music and antics of a rap-duo called the Insane Clown Posse. Smith was thought to have angered the trio by switching gang loyalties.
Trial is scheduled for July 20.
