I need some type of direction on what to buy?

my bad cuz i know this questions is always being asked but yeah.

looking for a good camera and a macro lens.

looking to spend 800-1000 dollars total

haha an old ass cannon powershot. just a point and shoot type thing.

if it helps, im gonna be taking action shots such as football or paintball.

and i also wannna do portraits.

i found some interest in the Cannon EOS Rebel XSi

is it any good?

Oh shit a point n shoot! My bad LOL yeah tha XSI is dope as fuck from what I read....actually you should be good with any of the Rebels....
I'm sellin my Rebel XT with lots of accessories if youre interested...but if you want some shit thats brand new with a big lcd than yeah go with tha XSi.

Just askin outta curiousity why tha interest in a macro?

and iduno, i really like macro photos.

like some1 stretchin their arm out to the camera holdin a stack of money and the hand, and everything besides the hand is blurred.

thats a macro type photo right?

those are hella dope haha.

can i do that with any lense?

Macro is actually for extreme closeup photography like if ya wanna close up of a bug or someshit lol.... tha type of shit you talkin about is tha depth of field. You just gotta play around with tha cameras aperature settings and basically any lense will do

^ I got a d80, and I still suck at takin pictures.. lol VERY nice easy to use camera though, I would highly recommend it, especially if you can get a good deal on it

take a look at the pentax k20d, i just picked one up, replaced my canon rebel. its 14.6 mega pixel, great reviews on every site i checked, and i got a great deal on ebay. i was gonna get a nikon, but i'm glad i went with the pentax. i'll post some pix asap.
