Comedian in early talks to portray funkster in biopic.

The next time Dave Chappelle exclaims, "I'm Rick James, bitch!," he might not be kidding.

Though plans are currently only half-baked, the comedian is in early talks to portray the funk musician in a film based on James' upcoming tome, "Memoirs of a Super Freak," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, who is producing the upcoming film "Constantine," directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Keanu Reeves, is reportedly in initial negotiations to obtain the rights to begin work on a Paramount film based on James' life.

James, 56, released his most recent studio album, Urban Rapsody, in 1997 and has been working on penning his memoirs for some time. Chappelle has been instrumental in bringing James' name back to pop culture with his impersonation of the musician on his Comedy Central series, "Chappelle's Show".

Yea, at the time, it WAS the funniest thing I'd ever seen, but you gotta admit it
s somewhat played out now. And making a 2 hour movie of it? Sounds risky...

That shit won't ever play out to me, it's a celebration!!!!!!! lol

it does get annoying to hear people say I'm RICK JAMES and they haven't seen the shit tho for reals

I think it could be a very very interesting movie, but not as a comedy. I think the chappelle idea may be a bad one.....but it could be the funniest shit ever

LMAO funny you say that. Down where I used to go to school they don't have comedy central and I used to put the shit up on my away messages (Chappelle Quotes) and they would always say them like they knew what the fuck they were talkin about. All those fuckers didn't even get to see it til I helped them download it.
