cool edit question

i got a problem with cool edit. Whenever i try to record in multilayer. Ill have the beat on layer one and then i create a mixdown on layer 2. then when i hit record, instead of recording, it erases everyting from layer 2 leavin a blank space. I Tried everything i can think of, even reinstalled the program but still get the same ol shit. Can anyone tell me what the fucks goin on?

i dont know much, but then the recording channel. you got to go to sound properties and select a different channel to record from. like if you were trying to record from your microphone. it will be silent if you dont select the microphone in the recording properties.

or just push the R box button on he 3rd track.

see wat it does is instead of recording it erases the shit from the second layer where he vocals supposed to be. So everything behind the yellow line ends up blank as it moves when i try to record.
