contesting a ticket in sf

ok so this morning as i was going to school this bicycle cop pulls me as i was going into the caesar chavez building at sf state and he tells me that theres no skateboarding on campus and asks if i knew that which i didnt(tons of people ride skateboards and bikes on campus) he then tells me that there are lots of signs around campus right so i then ask him to show me where one is in the plaza(malcolm x plaza, where most students are at and all the food places are at) and he couldnt he said "oh well there isnt one here but its all around campus" so wtf we're in the part of school where that's always populated and busy and where all the shows and rallys and shit like that is held and there isnt a sign in sight and the cop couldnt find a sign so anyways long story short i was riding cop gave me a ticket with no sign in sight can i get out of paying the 75-100 bucks?

ps. dude couldnt even let me off with a warning and the whole time iw as thinking about running but i remembered i had my backpack/laptop with me

pps. on the ticket it says its a traffic and infraction

Contest it, and just say that there were no visible signs in the area. If its your first time contesting a ticket, they always write those off for you...

yeah you should definitly contest it, that's bullshit. If the cop couldn't show you the sign, then he can't enforce it. And I always see hella people on skateboards all over the campus especially the part you're talking about.

well, i hate to be the bearer of bad newz but ur more then likely going to have to pay the ticket, things like bicycles and skateboards are considered vehicles and are supposed to be restricted to public streets and roadways and wether there was a sign present at the time or not the judge is going to ask how long u been there and isn't gonna believe u if u say you have been going to school there for "so and so" years and never once seen any of those signs... its almost common knowledge that bikes and skateboards on campus are prohibitied, he may reduce it if you dont make it a big ass deal go into a whole tirade about how u were singled out..

good luck with that.. keep us posted..

If it's in your school's guidelines or handbook, you're going to be fucked unless they don't see it.

Otherwise, I'd say contest that shit, if there's nothing in sight and the cop didn't know, they shouldn't be able to do shit...Maybe they can, but I'd hope not.

Good luck....

That's some bitch ass shit. I just got one an hour ago. They probably have to meet some kind of quota or whatever the fuck it's called. They need the funds, as if taxing our asses ain't bad enough.

Troll, NOT all campuses have that rule. Bikes, skateboards, and scooters are ALL allowed on the campus I attend.

So no, it's not "common knowledge." That's you assuming you know everything :)
