Bay Area was SUPPOSED to blow, what happened?

So last year was supposed to be our YEAR TO BLOW.. Aside from E-40 who did ok by media standard... everyone else pretty much flopped, was held back, and is now bound to flop. Lets look at the line up of some of the people who were SUPPOSED to blow.

E-40- 500k, pretty good for media standards. But didn't actually BLOW.

Mista Fab- the buzz for ghost ride it died down, trouble clearing the sample. Held back, and will take a miracle for him to blow now. First single flops, its hard to catch up after.

The Pack- Video premeired on 106andPark for Vans, never heard of again. Their LP flops.

The Federation- video single for 18DUmmy doesnt take off, trouble clearing Stunna Shades... thats 2 video singles down the drain. Album delayed big time...Again, will take a miracle for them to blow.

Who do we have left?

mistah fab wasn't suppossed to blow then, it was just a introduction type of song for him get his name out.
the pack i still think has potential, i hated them with a passion at first but now I think they're sicc and they continue to get better
the problem was there was no major artist besides 40 with a new album coming out and it took 4os nationwide attention to even get bay artists looked at by majors. i think theres still enough talent for a few more artists to have their 15 minutes as well as the bay too

I would have to agree with all that. Now that the area has mobalized theres still a chance! If all had gone according to plan it would have blown. I think The Pack will shine on the next album and the movement is just now starting to get fired about it in the NW! Theres still a chance!

I don't think nobody Flopped...it's all about laying the ground work...getting the Bay style out there..other folks in the industry now know what all that hyphy shit because of the "flops"....just seems to me folks just want to wake up to the Bay being mainstream...shit takes time to grab hold and spread...Clyde and Ya Boy and the rest commin this year will do better from work did last year...same goes for next year...don't worry it's commin, the buzz is out there...I don't think it's even close to being dead..best days are ahead...

REAL TALK...shit doesnt happen over night for an entire area, we're on a good path right now and we'll get there. Places like houston may seem like they blew up over night but they didnt, all those cats were rappin for a long time before shit got real hot there, and it happend slowly, a few artists broke thru, then more, then more. Its a process and right now i think we're doin the process right. We got a variation of differnt kinds of rappers gettin on majors or atleast gettin there name out there. alot of rappers in the bay r makin a buzz right now

Success in rap has NOTHING to do with hustle, talent, or any of the other bullshit y'all come on here and say.

Success in rap is LUCK, MARKETING (Not by the artist, by big labels) and MTV/BET, with a *small* amount having to do with the actual music.

WHY DID HYPHY DIE?

It was a local culture that we attempted to sell to the country. The rest of the country didnt even really like the music to start with.

So why would they go out of their way to learn 50 NEW WORDS AND IDEAS THEY WILL NEVER USE OR SAY?

NO song out the hyphy or "new bay" movement had the whole country vibin, jammin, and singin along.

Wanna know why the "This is why im Hot" single outsold the entire hyphy movement? It was just music that people did not need a bay encyclopedia to understand.

Why did Keyshia Cole become successful while no one else "blew up"?

Keyshia Cole made music, pure and simple. Keyshia Cole did not start the "gyro" movement, make songs about "gizzin in a frizzle" and "strappin a yocker in my beezoid delta". She sang songs.

Our rappers dont rap. Our rappers "pull rippers thizzin in stunna shades". Is it a surprise to anyone that people was not tryin to get on this whole tip?

The Bay came commercially, and now the Bay went. Back to the underground and the indie scene.
