First of all, let me tell you where I'm coming from. I'm straight Wes Coast Mobb music. If that's where you are comin from then my review is true as gold. If not, then we are not on the same page.
Overrall I give this album a ten. I have read reviews where the person gives somebody a 9 or an 8 and say that NOBODY deserves a ten, but I give it a ten for this reason.
I could have paid twice what I paid for this album and been satisfied. I play it constantly. I have fucked to it. I have mean mugged fools in traffic to it. I have played a song for my aunt (she lived We Gon Make it) and she's in her 50's. I have played songs for my potnas. It is a compilation. There are 3 artists on this album who I would buy a solo album from without hesitation. I would even say I look forward to them coming out with a solo project. Isn't that the whole purpose of a compilation. But more so than anything, this album is made by real niggas. You can just tell. Its hard to explain. You just know. Its not perfect because there are two or three songs that I really dont care for. Of those three songs, one will probably grow on me; two I doubt it. That is my reason. If this album costed 18 bucks I would give it a nine out of ten. A strong nine out of ten. I haven't bought a nine out of ten album since... got damn, has it been that long.
songs:
These are not in order.
What's up
a party song. I have fucked to this song. She basically was playin around with my CD's, messed around and played this song..... said, "Aaaaaay..." and a couple of minutes later we was fuckin. Best line: "Is it on and poppin, is the panties droppin." Bay area music, kinda ol school.
Next song to be reviewed is Ugly Bitch
This song is about how fools need to get a ugly woman because she's less problems, knows how to fuck, will do your hair, and got hella food stamps comin. This shit is comedy. I love it. This is the song niggas want listen to that reminds me of that old Ice Cube song, "A Bitch is a Bitch". Its just funny. The beat is not even really important in the song, its just funny.
Favorite line: "Look atcha, mad cuz yo bitch got the cramps, while Im off-to-the-sto with my bitch with HELLA food stamps"
Besides the joke, its some true shit. But that's another post all together. FOR REAL!
Richmond Killa
Gangsta shit. Pure 100% gangsta. Beat is so sinister, it makes me wanna fuck somebody up. I know that's not the right thing to say, but its the truth. When I hear this song I think about the fools that TRIED to do me wrong.....
favorite Line:
"Remember the midnight riiides? Don't comeback until you SHOOT SOMTHIN!!
If Somebody diiies...go-to-the-funeral just to PROVE SOMETHIN!"
That shit makes my skin crawl.
Flame On
Best Beat on this album. Bay Area beat. Hella nice flow to it. The guy does not stop rappin for the entire song. That's what I like. Cool voice. Reminds me of Mace before he became a preacher. But dude is obviously from Oakland.
best line, "Rollin down Skyline Boulevard, my zipper's tight bitch, pull it hard...."
Boyz N Boy
I think the name is wrong on the album because he always says "The Boys in the Bay" But this song is ridiculous. The second verse of this song is the best Bay Area Pimp verse I have hear in a looong time. This guy has a flow that is unique. Beat is from a old song, can't remember right now. But I remember hearing it before when I was young. Maybe just the baseline, but I've heard some of it before.
Favorite line: The whole second verse. "You need to train ya daughter if the girl is gettin older..... (I forget a line) I'ma a col' mufuca and I'm still gettin colder, I take these bitches pictures then I put em in my folder now I got her on file, you know what she the one thas onthe bottom of the pile.....
Freeway Mob Muzic:
This song has a beat that I can't really explain. It is so hard, so ferocious, that I bump it when I'm in traffic. My shit knocks. This song pushes my shit to the limit. I say that because of the bass and then the bass line on top of it is so menacing. Its more too much> I cant even imagine tryin to bump this if you dont have good shit in your car. It is that nasty. Game Warden, tell Sham I love him for this. For bass, think Dope Fiend Beat. For bassline think Freaky Tales. put those two together and its almost too much. Thats how this song is. The rappin is cool, but I really dont even pay attention to it except for when he starts off sayin,
"If you got a stolen Mobbey, SWANG that shit! If you got HIgh performance shit....FREEWAY MOB THAT MUTHAFUCKA TO THE MUSIC!!" Man, I rewind that part over and over.
Leave it Alone:
Hard ass song. Real Talk. This dude is from Richmond. Beat is absolutely flawless. Hella different, but not too fancy. I swear to god I think they used a piano or a organ or something to make that song.
Favorite line: "I don't play games with young niggas, I run niggas outta town. Catch em when they straight slippin and chase they ass down."
We Gone Mae It:
This song is one I think women will like. Its more of a cool track. Its cool, a little softer. I listen to it, but only if I'm in the mood for some nice shit. Other songs like that are Im a hustla, and What it Going to Be. All cool, don't get me wrong, and I could see how a lot of people love em. But those are the songs I play for other people. One thing though, the guy who is spittin is like a Bay Area style Twista. all beats cool
Da Coldis. Nasty
Favorite line: goin 55 miles an hour down Foothill (DOn't hit the pole!!)...bustin back at them mufuckas hidin in the grassy knoll.
Second line: Polyurethane playas, lets run up on em with sprayas...and I'll bet you then they'll pay us.
Nasty shit Oakland shit.
Somebody Explain:
This is probably one of my favorite songs on the tape. Last song, I think. It is talkin about life and just real talk. Talkin about eatin top ramen and hotdogs trying to come up Beat is Naaaaasty, bass line is overpowering.
Favorite line: Now its Beef flavor, chicken flavor, pork flavor, teriyaki flavor, shrimp flavor, even ??? flavor, but I'm doin my thing to get the real paper.
What else.
Songs I hate: Both the songs by Ghost. Beats cool, lyrics not my style. They talkin abotu real shit, though. I'll give em that. I'm just not feelin that one dude style.
Trouble, Trouble, Trouble
Ghetto shit. Got damn
They Gone
Ghetto shit, make you reminisce
what else, damn. If I forgot one, I will write more later but I gotta post this now before my computer fuck up. I'll describe a couple songs more later
This nigga said grassy knoll!!
