I don't think it's simply a way to be "interactive wit fans", but rather a business move. There is a lot of unheard talent out there. And there are some that perhaps can not deliver (when you hear their music), but they're writing skills are there. That's where the business mentality comes in.

The reality is, too many aspiring singers / rappers are stuck in having to write their own lyrics, but it takes more than one person (in a lot of cases) to make a hit song. Everything from the production to the writing etc etc.. And it's always important to have an outside / neutral ear give you an honest opinion. Having ghost writers is very much like having top notch producers on the team.

The problem is, everyone wants that spotlight and wants to shine. It doesn't always happen that way. People pushing on myspace etc etc..may get hit up by a major, simply for their writing skills and not their music.

Yes, well folks, welcome to the real world. We can argue that any artist who can't write his / her lyrics shouldn't be in the business yada yada yada.. but times have changed and a lot of the times labels base an artist on looks, rather than talent. And they build from there.

I think the Slap Boyz are making a smart move and know what the business truly is. It's something artist & independent labels should consider in building..a power house team rather than to be a prideful prick rapper / singer and have his homies feed his ego that he's tight & gonna make it.

Build yourself a real entourouge with people who hold a value in what you are doing, not the fake ones who hanging around to get what ever they can from you. At the end of it all, it's a business, not a kick back spot for your homies to come through & party.

And if you are too prideful in doing it all yourself, ask yourself how long you been doing it. And how much you have accomplished in the amount of time. If you are not truly where you want to be in this business, then I suggest you consider playing the game by using a different strategy because it's clear that your way doesn't work.
