Are Jay-Z and Damon Dash beefin'?
The rapper is said to be so angry at the hip-hop mogul that he's talking about bolting Dash's Roc-A-Fella Records.
The trouble is said to have started last month, when Jay-Z was chilling in St.-Tropez.
"Jay-Z wasn't happy that Damon signed [rapper] Cam'ron as an artist," an insider tells us. "He was doubly unhappy when Damon made him the vice president of the company."
Making matters worse, say insiders, Damon replaced label staffers loyal to Jay with some handpicked by Cam'ron.
A Roc-A-Fella spokeswoman admits "there were some staff changes," but insists: "I don't think Jay is leaving the label. His album is coming out Nov. 5."
A feud by the hip-hop heavies would be a twist on the movie Dash is directing. In "Death of a Dynasty," actors Capone and Rob Stapleton play characters modeled after Dash and Jay-Z. The satire has the two tricking a journalist into believing they hate each other. Dash's pals, including Run-D.M.C., Chloe Sevigny and Jamie-Lynn Sigler, have all done cameos.
Jay was also said to be planning an appearance. Curiously, he's yet to be seen on the set.
