when you get a dvd-r of a dvd off the internet thats the full thing including menus etc (they might take a few out and some trailers to make it fit on a dvd since the retail dvds are about double the capacity of the dvd-rs that you can buy at best buy etc. those usually come as .iso files after you extract it out the .rar compressed files. with those ill use a program called daemon tools http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5 thats basicly a program where it creates a fake cdrom drive under your My Computer where you can "mount" cd/dvd images you download, a good way to test them out before you go wasting a cd on them, so with that i mount the .iso dvd image and then just open up nero or whatever program to do a cd copy, and then i just choose my fake dvd drive daemon tools created as the source drive and then choose the dvd burner drive you have as the destination. the reason i do this is because i have no clue what program can burn iso files haha. but daemon tools is tight anyways since you can mount any dvd/game/application you get off the internet and use it without even wasting a cd.
now for the svcd dvd rips(those are just the movies ripped off the dvd no menus etc) and the svcd/vcd telesyncs of movies that are still in theaters, those usually are made to fit on cdr discs, so svcds are usually 2-3 discs and vcds usually 2, svcd/vcd just basicly means the quality. with those i hear you can use nero to put them on either cdrs (some dvds dont play vcds on cdrs) or convert them to play on dvds. i havent tried that tho. i use svcd2dvd, with that i can usually fit 2 svcds + 1 vcd or 4 vcds on one dvd disc. and get your hustle on 5 dollars a movie.
