New MVNO on the block Amp'd Mobile today began accepting orders for its phones and service on its web site. The company is initially offering just one phone - the black Kyocera Jet - although it also plans to offer a white version called the Angel, and a Motorola phone dubbed the Hollywood, based on the E815. Monthly plans range from $30 for 250 voice minutes to $100 for 2000 minutes. All plans include unlimited weekends and nights starting at 9PM. In a unique twist, all plans include "no overage on mobile-to-mobile", meaning calls to other Amp'd users deduct from minutes, but become unlimited once all minutes are used. Push-To-Talk, data, and messaging all cost extra. A special $200/month plan includes unlimited everything, plus a free phone. Amp'd uses Verizon's CDMA EV-DO network to offer streaming and downloadable content for the youth and young adult markets. The company received a cash infusion of $50 million from MTV earlier this week.
