So last night I was reading a book, once I was done something else popped in my head. I started to think about global warming, nuclear wars, etc...

Then the planet Mars came in those thoughts as well, but my argument with myself was if Mars actually had some sort of life in the past and it is the way it is due to climate change/global warming. I mean scientist believe Mars had a big water body and most likely there was life there...

is it possible that the earth will look like the planet Mars if we don't make changes in our planet?

crazy thoughts i know..but I want to know what do you guys think of my thoughts...

Mars lost its magenitc field, that's why there's no life on it now, and it probably never had any life on it, because it's beyond the Sun habitabilty zone

Life will never become extinct on the Earth as long as the magnetic field is OK, the day is short enough and the Sun doesn't cause any trouble - we can make a lot of damage on the planet but it will kill us and a lot of other species but not all the life

BTW the Earth will become uninhabitable way before the Sun dies, because the rotation of the Earth is becoming slower and slower - the day was 22 hours 400 million years ago, once it becomes 26-27, the day and the night will be too long and the surface will become too hot during the day and too cold during the night and eventually life will become extinct

this will happen in ~500 million years

mars is red because of iron oxide, it has craters because it doesnt have an atmosphere as thick as ours. the lack of a thick atmosphere doesnt effectively allow the green house affect to keep the place warm.

Mars does have polar ice caps, which suggests there use to be rivers and shit.

So anyone saying that his thoughts are definitely wrong, is definitely a stupid asshole.

DFresh, I've thought about the same thing. For all we really know, Mars was a planet like Earth, they had the problems we are having now, so they left, put some spores or some shit on Earth and let that grow to be whatever it would...

There are endless possibilities, I think it's hilarious when people try to shoot things down like this.

To anyone saying he's wrong, prove it. Prove to all of us that Mars was NEVER a planet that supported life (they have life there now I believe, or so I read).

The other problem is when you say "life," stupid people think you mean HUMAN life. Not just, BACTERIA....

Try this for thought...there are pods in space that are going to be used as living quarters for "regular" people (those who have a ton of money)...a few gov't's are working on it....I think it'll be attached to the ISS.

I read in some article that even if we stop polluting the air, that global warming will continue. And that it will stay on a constant pace without increasing as it would should we continue to pollute. Has anyone else stumbled upon this finding?

i wonder if jesus....grr nevermind the post would have been too offensive to people with sand in their pussies, anyway, i do think we have a WW3 in the rising, maybe even in year 2006, i think the poler ice calps will melt and the world will flood, by year 2016, and a meteor will hit the earth, by year 2032 that is, dont ask about the exact yearly dates though
