Love Tech, but this is wack, September 25, 2001
By A Customer

Okay.. so I have Tech's previous 2 independent releases-- "Calm before the Storm" and "The Worst"... and this is by far his worst. The two really excellent tracks on this release are "Real Killer" and "Suicide Letters" which deal with suicide and abortion, two issues that don't often make it into the sphere of song writing. Tech N9ne is a really skillful lyricist-- great original flow! but the CD is overtracked to death, with skits and "insignifica," overly complex beats and poor song structure. Tech N9ne is one of the greatest rappers I've ever heard but the product he puts together here- a mishmash of sounds and songs, is far too obscure and unlistenable. If Tech was produced by Dr. Dre or someone like that, I'm sure he'd be at least on the level of a 2Pac or an Eminem, but if he continues to release CDs like this, he will remain a KC-only recognition. Now let's get to the CDs content (aside from the 2 aforementioned tracks)--- it is offensive and as the title of the record implies deals with gothic imagery and very explicit sexual imagery.... After a while this sort of content begins to really nauseate the listener. If you want to hear an interesting "new" rapper named Tech N9ne... buy one of his other CDs. This one is unlistenable....

i found this on amazon.com. Unlistenable?? This is one the most listenable albums ever!!! My favorite Tech N9ne CD of all time. Beats are too complex?? What the fuck does that mean? There some ill ass beats on this album, prolly his best produced album. Also another guy said he was a die hard Tech fan but that Anghellic got really old fast and only gave it 3 stars. Dont mean to bitch but this really upsets me. :ermm:

Anghellic, whether the OG or Reparation is leaps and bounds above the overall content on The Worst or Calm Before The Storm..

I assume that is probably because of the overall production of the album.. the better album structure and the fact that I found there are more skippable tracks on the aforementioned albums, though there is occassionally some N9ne gold on there. (Never particularly got into tracks like Spend The Night, I Didn't Lie (except Tech's part comes hard), The Worst & Fucked Up Day. All seem to have the same type of slow, soft and R&B'ish feel, which isn't particularly good in showcasing Tech's better talents in my opinion.. and not entirely what i am into..

i first heard tech on blocc movement by lynch and c-bo , i then picked up tech's album

many note worthy tracks imo, i usually only skip "going bad" i just dont like the beat

the album is still a knocker though, i got a lot of people tuned on tech from anghellic so whoever says that album is awful, wack, garbage, unlistenable is full of shit and probably needs to go back to listening to some yanni

im not gonna lie. but come on we all know tech isnt a devil worshipper, but if u didnt know tech and u saw the pics of the anghellic CD thats the first thing u would think, and ppl would say "well u should listen to him before u judge" but if anyone sees a pic like that, thats a very strong thing, and would scare away many.but still tech is ill, and luckily i gave em a chance before sayin anything

wow, i loved Going Bad, i love that beat too, awesome song. and im real confused with this devil shit thing. Three 6 Mafia were like the kings of devil shit but everyone loved them mostly black ppl too. so why did tech get shit for that?? and isnt that a reason why ppl think tech dont have a lot of black fans??

Anghellic went in a different direction than Tech's first two albums. He whom wrote the review obviously did not like this new direction. Most of the people who criticize MLK do so for the same reason.

I think MLK was tight shit too.. Yea you can hear a different direction in some tracks and everything.. Like for some reason Fan or Foe sounds like a beat that can be played on the radio but it is one of my favorite tracks. And the way he raps it makes it better. At first i used to put MLK down like Hell yea it was hot shit BUt others are better and all that until i made a playlist on my IPOD with my favorite Tech tracks and realized i basically put all of MLK on there.

this review was obviously posted by someone who dug tech because when he heard his first 2 albums and was expecting gangsta rap like pac or dre and hearing it scared him. its just an average mainstream customer. ppl dont understand that reality is dark, and tech spits reality. whether it be rain or shine...

and how could he have not liked stamina?? no matter who u r that shit is crazy!

i feel you on the lyrics, but for it to be catchy for me the beat has to be solid, and going bad just doesnt do it for me, but out of all the tech albums going bad has to be the worst beat for me thus making the least played tech track, i still listen to it , but the beat just doensnt pull me in like tormented..... anyways lets not get off track and start discussing other albums. this is strictly for anghellic....
the devil worshippin shit is just rediculous , i have never thought that about tech even looking through the cd booklet and inlay, you have to understand the message behind the album title "anghellic" heaven and hell, good and bad,
its a constant battle for some of us that have lived and done so much bad, that when we try and do good and positive things the bad comes and tempts you into wrong choices and sometimes places you in bad situations. thats how i saw the album booklet. trying to do good and be positive, yet life and temptation keep pulling him under and he's trying to escape hell and make it to heaven.. the devil tech inlay , i thought represented a side of tech, his bad side not evil.... his album cover was him as an angel trying to escape or free himself from the torment of hell and all of life temptations
