The premise that it is innate biological instincts that drive humans towards our own demise.
How would I ever contest it given that I am the one claiming it all the time?

And it is not a premise, it is an extremely unpleasant conclusion that however directly and inevitably follows from the available data

ThaG has a serious superiority complex...nothing to see here.

And its a shame to, becuase he is fairly intelligent.
Why are you excluding all the other possibilities?

When someone is loudly complaining about how stupid, short-sighted and ignorant most people are it can indeed be a result of him having a superiority complex and his desire to show off how much more he is worth than the rest.

But it could also be due to the fact that he is genuinely disturbed by the empirical fact he is stating and its consequences, which in this case are as serious as it can get

Would he still have a superiority complex if he wasn't fairly intelligent? :chinese:
yes, he merely identified his superiority complex with being fairly intelligent.
if it was gone, hed identify it with having the biggest dick or somethin.
and although intelligent people will see "through" that about themselves, 'fairly' intelligent people wont.

But can a superiority complex itself be enough to make one become "fairly intelligent"?

if by fairly intelligent you mean being able to memorize everything you read then yes. One can have a complex that will make them dedicate so much effort to a purpose.
But it would be the effort invested into the process of memorization that made one become a robot and not the complex.
In fact, the complex is nothing more but a lacking from within that one feels the need to over-compensate for.

its very much like a guy with a complex that makes them racist towards their own kind. His complex is really a lacking of self acceptance of who he is, and so in order to deal with the lacking he will identify his self-hatefulness with "them" .

I don't see how buying gold is going to save in you in the conditions of societal collapse. That's a very foolish attitude to have, just as foolish as the people who are stockpiling canned food and arming themselves. Sure, you can survive for a while with you canned food, and you will be better off than the rest if you have gold while hyperinflation is raging. But those are individual and temporary cushions that do nothing to solve the structural problem which if left unaddressed will still get you in the long run.

The only meaningful thing to do is collective action to do the necessary things to avoid complete breakdown of social order and total civilizational collapse. But that's never going to happen if all people think about is how to survive in the short run. That's kind of thinking that got us into this mess in the first place, therefore it is not the kind of thinking that will get us out of it

This is circular talk. On one hand you say it's very foolish to do A then you say doing A will make you better off in certain situations than someone else. Then you say the meaningful thing is to do is B but that it isn't going to happen if all people think about is how to survive in the short run.

Question: When did the OP state or imply that he was investing in gold/silver to protect himself from societal breakdown/economic collapse? The way I see it is he got bit by the Ron Paul bug, couldn't invest at the time and now has the ability to do so and is asking questions.

The OP is POWERLESS in doing B or making a substantial contribution to it because he is not a policy maker, does not have the resources to make a change, etc. However, the OP does have POWER to do A, and to be honest, if we were to take post regarding evolution as a standard, A is what he should be doing. Why? Because it is SELF-PRESERVATION. You can argue what self-preservation means to you and if you think it means preserving the human species or society as a whole, so be it.

Be careful on your gold/silver purchases.
Gold/silver got destroyed today. Give it a few days and maybe you can buy this dip in prices. But I would wait until it settles.
This gold/silver price manipulation is crazy

You invest $1,000's in Silver and Gold. I buy a box of Hollow Points. When the economy collapses, WHO DIES FIRST??

I'd never trust ant paper receipts. Buy metals that you can keep personally ;)
