LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- "Entertainment Tonight" is reporting a contract has been put out on Kevin Federline's life.
Kevin Federline's life could be in danger, reports "Entertainment Tonight."
The nightly entertainment show also reports the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI are investigating the matter.
But the LAPD told CNN, "We do not have any current investigation pending regarding threats made against Kevin Federline."
Calls to Federline's publicist and his attorney's publicist elicited "no comments" and referrals to the FBI.
The FBI would not confirm any sort of investigation into the matter, but spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said the agency expected to have a statement later Monday afternoon.
Federline is the ex-husband of pop singer Britney Spears. The two are currently locked in a bitter custody battle for their two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
TMZ.com reports Wasser withdrew from representing Spears Monday morning. Wasser has not returned CNN's calls confirming that report.
Spears' mediocre performance at MTV's Video Music Awards in Las Vegas September 9 elicited brutal reviews from critics and fans alike and increased questions about whether she will ever be able to get her career back on track.
