The San Francisco 49ers announced Tuesday that WR Bryan Gilmore has signed as an unrestricted free agent.

Gilmore (6-0, 193) is a six-year NFL veteran who played for the Arizona Cardinals and the Miami Dolphins. He has played in 55 games with 13 starts and has caught 38 passes for 533 yards and four touchdowns.

Gilmore is reunited with 49ers wide receivers coach Jerry Sullivan, who coached Gilmore in Arizona from 2001-03 and in Miami in 2004.

“Our wide receivers coach Jerry Sullivan has a history with Bryan,” said head coach Mike Nolan. “He feels he is a young receiver with a huge upside. He is a big, strong receiver with speed who is physical and will contribute. I am looking forward to adding Bryan to our receiving unit.”

Gilmore was originally signed by Arizona as an undrafted free agent out of Midwestern State in 2000. He spent the majority of his first two NFL seasons on the Cardinals practice squad. However, he did see action in one regular-season game in 2000 and two games in 2001. Gilmore was a key reserve for Arizona in 2002, but was limited to just seven games due to an ankle injury that forced him to finish the season on injured reserve. Gilmore was waived by Arizona prior to the start of the 2004 season and was claimed and awarded to the Miami Dolphins. He was a key reserve for the Dolphins over the last two seasons.

Who do u think the #3 will be? I seen this "mock draft"

Round 1, Pick 6

Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland

The smart money seems to lean more and more towards Davis being the pick here. For my own money, I would be happy with Davis, or Michael Huff, or D’Brickashaw Ferguson, or Mario Williams. It’s a dead horse at this point, but we’ll beat it again: the 49ers desperately need offensive playmakers, and Davis is one of the best in this draft, and maybe the best of the WRs/TEs. The development of Alex Smith is the key to the future of this franchise, and a weapon like Davis can go a long way in making that development smooth. The TE is the new vogue position in the NFL, and Davis has the athleticism, speed, desire, work ethic, and skills to be the greatest at the position when all is said and done.

Round 2, Pick 37

Sinorice Moss, WR, Miami

Hey, remember when I said that thing about the horse being dead? Well, let’s get him again: offensive playmakers. Enter Sinorice Moss. Obviously dramatically undersized, but that didn’t stop Steve Smith and Moss’ brother Santana from dominating the NFL this season. Moss impressed at the Senior Bowl, and Coach Mike Nolan and staff had a front row seat. Moss could come in right away and provide help on Special Teams in the return game as well, an area the 49ers could use some assistance in. Moss and Derrick Hamilton could form a very nice 3rd/4th WR-Deep Threat package, furthering Alex Smith’s progress even more. Other options at this stage could be Antonio Cromartie, Ko Simpson, D’Qwell Jackson, Dominique Byrd.

Do u think they need Huff if they can nab Chris Hope or Will Demps? and AJ hawk if they can resign Peterson? I think another viable option @ TE can be former Raider/cardinal Teyo Johnson

Yes. Huff will turn out to be a great DB and the Niners need depth there.

Imagine Derek Smith, Jeff Ulbrich, Julian Peterson and A.J. Hawk.... Need I say more, really?

Sounds better than wasting a first round pick. What's the deal with Eric Johnson?

hes "injury prone", picture this as starting offense, the line being Heitmann, Smiley, Jennings, Newberry,Baas/Snyder (benching K Harris Ass), Gore @ HB, Battle,Bryant,(moss?,fleck?,amey?,woods?), Eric Johnson and Teyo Johnson. That sounds like a pretty Nice O, but most of that shit wont come true, Harris and Barlows worthless asses are gonna keep playin. Would you still want Huff if we can get lets say Ricky Manning Jr? That do sound like a nice LB corp lol, we also need a Big DT that will fill the hole, I like anthony Adams, but he isnt too well suited for the 3-4, neither is sopoaga, lets convert Adams to a fullback :) lol

I think this signing shows that the coaching staff wants to win NOW and aren't going to wait for the receivers at the bottom of the totem pole to develop. Bye bye Rasheed Marshall, Otis Amey, & Rashaun Woods!

I also hope they nab Vernon Davis but if they got Mario Williams, I wouldn't be mad. We need D-line too and they talk about this guy like he's Julius Peppers with Richard Seymour size. I would be mad if they took a LB that early when there are probably going to be good LBs in rounds 2-4 not to mention we have two 3rd rounders.

Yeah I know, but what are the Niners' plans with him? I heard a while back that they were thinking about releasing him because of him being injury prone.

With Jennings and Newberry healthy, the line will be much better. Baas and Snyder are decent and so is Justin Smiley. Heitman is koo too, but I think they have room for improvement overall. But yeah Harris has got to go.

Gore @ HB
I've been saying that since day 1.

Battle shouldn't be the starting receiver. Bryant is much better than he is. Arnaz Battle is not all the good in my eyes. I think Sinorice Moss is a great 2nd round pick if he's still available and I still think Rashaun Woods will be pretty good. They gotta give him a shot.

If they already had Ricky Manning Jr. when the draft comes around, then probably not. But if I had a choice between Manning Jr. and Huff I'd choose Huff for the long haul.

I think they just signed him to make more competition with the receivers to let them know they job isnt secure so they can try harder to make the team. Hopefully this brings out the best out of some of them. We need a playmaker desperatly.

i think we should try and get Marcedes Lewis. I think he could be just as big as star as Vernon Davis in this league, its just that everyone keeps goin crazy over Davis' speed. I think he ran like a 4.43 or somethin, but I think this is how the draft should go for the first couple picks.
1st Rd.-Mario Williams DE or AJ Hawk LB
2nd Rd.-Sincorcie Moss WR
3rd Rd.-Marcedes Lewis TE

I like the prospect of Sinorice Moss only if we don't get Vernon Davis. Otherwise, I see the offense staying with that smashmouth mentality and Moss doesn't quite fit that.

Davis' official combine time was 4.38 and had a 42 inch vert.

I doubt Marcedes Lewis falls that far. Because of the lack of talented receivers in this draft, I think there is a chance there'll be a run on TEs from the bottom of the first to the end of the first day(3rd round).

I like Amey because he's from northern cali but I think the emphasis is on upgrading anywhere possible. He won't beat out P.J. Fleck, that's for sure and his return ability sort of tailed off toward the end of the season. We still need a decent return guy and they won't put Battle out there unless he gets beat out of the starting spot. Fat chance at that.

He's a Raider fan. They're the only ones with a twisted reality when it comes to football. And here's a surprise: HE ARGUES THAT THE LEAGUE HAS A CONSPIRACY AGAINST HIS TEAM BECAUSE "THEY HATE THE RAIDERS." LMFAO. Yeah homeboy, your opinion holds a lot of weight.
