I agree with your post and personally I feel he’s a bay legend although he’ll never receive the same credit or recognition as the Mob Figaz. I grew up on Wax’s music (I’ve literally been bumping his shit since savage timez released in 01) and I used to stay seeing his posters and stickers all over Pittsburg/Antioch. I feel that his earlier production and sound was very similar to the Jacka (he had a lot of work produced by Rob Lo), his lyrics are always on point and I’ve appreciated how he’s altered his rapping style- I.e. savage timez, 65 Gz, conceptz and Contradictionz, Thug deluxe etc. Not to mention his beats were usually on point as well. It’s funny how so many niggaz were riding the Husalah wave at the time and overlooked A-wax. I’m a fan of Husalah but his catalog is no where in comparison to A-wax.
Agreed!

So just because some of us think he’s a legend that makes us Stans? Lol okay
Im a hip hop/rap fan not a rappers fan. Calling Wax a legend seems like something biased blind stans would do. He is no where near a legend but you can't see that because you are on his dick to much. If you was in the reality you would've seen that despite you personally liking Wax so much he is not a legend and probaly never will be. Siccnes got a lot cats whishing A-Wax was their dad. So yeah...thats probaly the cause here

It's like kids back in the day who said/though Ja Rule was the new 2Pac. They just blind and ignorant because they love the rapper so much.

Snoop Dogg, Run DMC, Spice-1, Notororius BiG, 2Pac, De La Soul, Outkast, A-Wax, Mobb Deep, Public Enemy, Nas, Rakim, Gangstarr. Jay-Z, E-40, Wu-Tang Clan, UGK, Scarface.

You see what I did? These are a few considerd to be legends. A-Wax ain't one of them. Even putting his name amongst feels like a joke. I don't even like Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z or E-40 but if you can't tell or figure what makes a legend a legend then you are completly clueless when it comes to Hip Hop/Rap.

So what is it? Being clueless or being a stan?

So basically nobody is a legend unless they're a mainstream artist ? Lmao! U a fool bruh. How u gonna put a blackballed underground rapper on a list with mainstream MTV ass niggas and try to say he ain't shit because so and so?
Most the "artists" on your list up there are trash with the exception of a couple being decent. You are trying to prove a point and doing it all the way wrong.

I don't see Spice-1. Scarface, Gangstarr or UGK as mainstream but whatever...their are lot of underground artist that been labelled as legend. I just took a few names but A-Wax ain't one of them. The Jacka is though. You want to know why? Because he been a factor and an influence. A-Wax is not.

I like this legend debate .Gotta do it with other artists.

Only 1 and a 1/4 of those rappers are from THE BAY.

I doubt too many on here consider A-Wax a universal HIP HOP LEGEND. But if we're talking Bay Rap, I think you have to entertain the argument. The guys catalogue is something to talk about.

How people going to call a rapper a legend if they dont know what a legend is?

He has no influence inside the bay. A few good albums doesnt make you instantly a legend. If he was a legend. He would have been an influence inside the bay. It's that simple.

Influence ----is how you're measuring a legend. That's cool. Perhaps most important.

However, for some people influence may be only one criterion for legend status, and for them there are others as well for example : longevity, body of work/resume---be it quality or quantitiy, originality, pure skill/talent etc.

Is there a single legend that debuted post 1999?

Depends what you like. Jacka j stalin etc.. legends in my book. Wax raps circles around most rappers. People in Europe and Australia slap his music too it's not just ppl in the west coast .good music reaches far and wide.

It's more than influence, like I mentioned in earlier posts and I agree. the other parts you mentioned are a part of the whole too.
It's about rappers who paved the way, being legend is something big. Legends are the ones who inspired upcomming rappers.

Wax is just not that guy. Nobody cares or sees him in that way. I like Wax more then Snoop Dogg but Snoop is a legend and Wax is not. It's just the reality.

Now people can go on and call him a legend all they want but it just makes them look stupid. You will be either clueless about what a legend is, out of touch with the world and it's reality or a dickriding stan.
