Sherman, Seahawks rule 22nd ESPYS

The 22nd annual ESPYS in Los Angeles kicked off Wednesday night with Richard Sherman of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks winning the ESPY for Best Breakthrough Athlete.

It ended with Sherman and the Seahawks claiming the ESPY for Best Team.

The Seahawks earned the franchise's first Super Bowl title, decisively beating the Denver Broncos 43-8 while fielding a league-best defense that gave up only 14.4 points and 273.6 yards per game, spearheaded by Sherman and the defensive backfield dubbed the "Legion of Boom."

"Just to be up here with all the other teams that were nominated is an honor," said Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. "Most of all, to all our fans, the 12th man, bringing back the title to Seattle was special. Go Hawks!"

The Seahawks topped fellow champions in the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Kings, San Antonio Spurs, Florida State Seminoles (college football) and UConn Huskies (NCAA women's basketball) for the top team honor.

ESPN's annual sports awards show, which celebrates the year's best athletes and moments in sports, was hosted by recording artist Drake, who took shots at some of the world's top athletes during his opening monologue, including Sherman, Johnny Manziel, and Lance Stephenson, who earlier Wednesday signed a free-agent deal with the Charlotte Hornets....

Tate used to live where I worked and I've seen and talked to him dozens of times. I'm about 95% sure he's either bisexual or is still denying to himself he's gay lol

I kicked it with him at Coachella last year and he was definitely weird.

If I was GT I would be smashing girls like it was my job, but he was just down there by himself standing around in his google glasses lol.

Can't really hate on Tate he took more money and went to a pass happy team where defenses have to basically quadruple team Megatron every play so Tate will have way more opportunities versus Seattle who was #31 in the league on pass attempts only ahead of SF (if I remember correctly). He made a good career decision. Seattle wanted him but simple couldn't give him that kind of money, not with Harvin already signed to a big deal and having to pay Sherman and Thomas big money.

So everybody whined about the seahawks so much that the nfl says there's going to be more illegal contact and defensive holdibg calls than ever. Its pretty obvious its the seahawks they're talking about, even though mike periera said he reviewed the superbowl and there was not one single uncalled infraction by us.

This season someones going to get like fucking 65+Tds and 6000+ yards I swear.

I hate the NFL when it comes to this. They've already taken so much away from defenses which is why every top 15 QB throws for a million yards every season now. I said this way before the Seahawks became real contenders that they are slowly turning the NFL into the NBA. Its very difficult to create legit defenses these days (there are only a few). Teams will just have to adapt I guess but It's difficult.

I grew up watching what I call real football. Great defense and a good run game. That is the oldschool formula that I've always loved. Teams like the Seahawks and the 49ers are to me what football should always be. I don't want to see a bunch of pussies crying every time they get touched and turned into floppers like the NBA and soccer, fuck that shit. Let men play a man's game.

Yeah, the nfl seems like it bends over backwards for the casual fans. These people don't know the difference between a 3 to 9 final score stinker and a 9 to 13 defensive brutal epic slugfest. They want to see nba scores and flags anytime their favorite players get hit.

I know I was saying "well if the seahawks are getting away with breaking any rules then throw the flags PLEASE" but that simply isn't the case. We jam receivers early and play within the rules that are given. We all argued about this last year with the niner fanbase.

I just think its petty and is just going to result in longer games and more commercials, and a lot of hail mary type throw it up and hope for a flag bullshit
